NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The Nebraska State Auditor, Mike Foley, received concerns on Thursday regarding the outside employment and certain reimbursement payments made by the clerk of the village of Wallace.

Foley expressed his reaction to the complaint, stating:

“We felt this was not appropriate and we’ve received some concerns about this, and they aren’t good.”

Foley said he hopes the letter he sent to Gary Hager, the chairperson of the village of Wallace, will help resolve this complaint.

“This letter is not an indictment of anybody’s behavior and character, but it offers some constructive suggestions that maybe have some better business practices in place,” said Foley.

The Nebraska State Auditor also emphasized the need for a more formalized process for charging off mileage and other expenses.

“That way you have some documentation to show, why you would be entitled to the mileage and the expense reimbursement, said Foley. “It’s a good business practice to have better documentation.”

Officials with the village of Wallace Town Hall and the state auditor are working with Foley to resolve the complaint.
