Good morning and happy Saturday!

Rain and storms moved into the area overnight last night into early this morning. Those storms are now pushing off to the south however, we are not done with the thunderstorms quite yet.

There will be a slight break in the rain between now and 10 AM, so it might be best to do your grocery shopping early this morning during that break. The redevelopment of storms will begin by early afternoon, mainly along and south of I-70. Storms will be lasting into the evening and move out by the overnight hours. A few of these storms could be on the stronger side, but I don't expect for us to see any major issues today. The main threats for this afternoon will be large hail and maybe a strong gust of wind.

The heat will be another big story for today, high temperatures will reach the low 90s as dew points climb into the mid 70s  by this afternoon. When you combine the heat with the humidity, it's going to feel like the upper 90s to low 100s to our bodies today. Make sure to stay hydrated and avoid spending time outdoors if you can help it. A heat advisory is currently in place across portions of the Ozarks until 8 PM tonight.

Temperatures will drop into the middle 60s overnight, I don't want to rule out a stray pop up shower or two but for the most part we should stay drier and partially cloudy.

Cooler below average temperatures will be in store for Sunday as we begin a drier weather pattern. Sunday will be a good day for early Independence day celebrations with the low heat and humidity sticking around through Monday and plenty of sunshine. The heat then returns by Tuesday as high temperatures skyrocket into the middle 90s with heat index values in the 100s expected. The drier weather pattern then comes to an end as storms make their way back into the area through the middle of the week.
