Good Saturday evening, everyone. After we got past our storms this morning and a hot and humid afternoon, we kick off this evening with a First Alert Weather Day as our cold front continues to work south across the Ozarks. It’s in place because our cold front working through the Ozarks will allow for scattered showers and storms mainly for the evening hours with a chance for some to be severe with wind and hail being the main threats.

With a severe thunderstorm watch in place until 11:00 Saturday night, FutureCast will hold on to the idea that scattered showers and storms will continue until things start winding down by 2:00 Sunday morning.

After a quiet Sunday morning, our cold front will still be close by to allow for additional isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms to develop in the afternoon near the state line and into northern Arkansas. Any of that expected activity should stay mainly below severe levels and wrap up by sunset Sunday evening.

Behind our cold front, we will welcome a nice drop in temperatures. For Sunday, many of us will go from morning lows around 70° to afternoon highs back in the lower to middle 80s. That, with lower humidity, will feel nice as we wrap up your weekend.

For Monday, another wave before the upper-level ridge builds back in could bring in additional scattered showers and thunderstorms West of Highway 65 during the afternoon. Aside from that, everyone should expect partly sunny skies on Monday and afternoon highs back in the middle 80s.

Tuesday looks like a dry day with mostly sunny skies. However, the passing center of the upper-level ridge we’ll make sure we turn hot and humid again on Tuesday. Starting Wednesday and taking us into next weekend, the shifting Ridge will allow another storm system to give us periods of showers and storms to keep an eye on.

While those rain chances next week may not sound good for those with outdoor plans, I do think there will be periods of dry time and things could still change between now and then. On the plus side, does rain chances will take us from highs in the middle 90s on Wednesday into the lower 90s on the 4th of July and into the 80s for next weekend.
