NEAR BRANSON, Mo. (KY3) - Taney County deputies detained a person wanted in a shooting death investigation north of Branson.

Sheriff Brad Daniels says there is no threat to the public now and that a suspect is in custody.

The incident happened on Cannon Ball Loop at the Pine Valley Apartments and Studios. The victim is a 27-year-old man whose identity has not been released.

Neighbors who live right next to the shooting say they heard yelling leading up to the gunfire.

Others who live in the area who spoke with KY3 say a family lived in the home where the incident happened, and there were never any signs of violence.

“We don’t know what happened or who got killed,” said Angie Femmer, a neighbor. “My daughter heard the gunshot, and then we heard screaming and got down.”

Angie and Kelly Femmer live near the incident. They say the neighborhood community always seemed very safe, and they are surprised this happened.

“My heart goes out to her and the kids. I just feel terrible for the family,” said Femmer. ”We saw police put somebody in handcuffs, but we couldn’t see who it was. It’s just a tragedy and an absolute shock.”

Police have not released a motive in the case and say they are waiting on the prosecuting attorney for charges.
