Summer BreakSpot adds grab and go options for free breakfast, lunch while school is out
The School District of Lee County is again partnering with Florida’s Summer BreakSpot program to keep children healthy and well-nourished while school is out.The Summer BreakSpot Program allows the District’s Food and Nutrition Services Department to provide free meals to children 18 years of age and younger during the summer.Between June 5 and July 31, breakfast and lunch will be served at school-based and community sites in Lee County.There are no income requirements or registration. Anyone age 18 or younger may come to eat. Meals must be consumed on-site.New this summer, eight sites will be serving grab-and-go meals. At these locations, the child does not need to be present and the meal does not have to be eaten on site.Monday through Thursday a breakfast and lunch will be provided. On Friday’s, a three-day meal kit will be provided so a child can also have breakfast and lunch over the weekend.
