GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Officers with the Delta Colorado Police Department (DCPD) were called to a scene involving a dog stuck in a water drain.

The dog was found Sunday morning, June 30th, inside a 15-foot water drain. Officers estimated the dog to have been in the drain for several days. Upon arriving on the scene officers were able to secure a line, hoist the dog out of the drain, and bring it to safety.

Currently, the DCPD is in search of the owners of the dog. any information can be directed to the DCPD dispatch line at 970-874-2015.

Flood watch is currently in effect for parts of the western slope, the DCPD urges pet owners to keep animals safe and secure to ensure their saftey.
