NEW YORK—Apple CEO Tim Cook posted a video on the Cerebral Palsy Foundation website addressing the unease and hesitation some folks feel when they encounter a person with a disability. In the video, which you can watch here, Cook says, “At Apple, we believe inclusion inspires innovation, diversity gives us strength and that includes people with disabilities.” He went on to ask Apple's intelligent virtual assistant Siri, “How do you start a conversation with someone who has a disability?”

Siri’s response: “It’s easy, Just say "Hi.'"

Cook is not the only tech industry boss to participate in the Cerebral Palsy Foundation’s campaign. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has recorded his own “Just Say Hi” video, as have a number of other celebrities, including actor Michael J. Fox, restaurateur Mario Batali, New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi, former Fed Chairman Paul Volcker, comedian John Oliver, and journalist Gayle King.

In a statement on its website, CPF said, “It’s a joy to have Tim Cook add his voice (and Siri’s) to our campaign. Tim’s combination of keen mind and kind heart is displayed every time that he communicates his vision to the world. We’re thrilled that his outreach now includes the “Just Say Hi” campaign.”
