QUINCY (WGEM) - Air conditioning repairmen have been busy during the heatwave.

Service techs at Keck Heating and Air Conditioning said they’ve been receiving more repair calls in the last couple of weeks.

They said AC units work harder in the extreme heat and that it’s a good idea to turn on your AC before the heatwave starts to check and make sure everything is working correctly.

“You get a nice warm day, go ahead and run it, make sure it’s working like it should. Then you’re going to know, that way you’re not going to break down when it is 95 out, 100 degrees plus heat index because everybody is busy then,” said HVAC Service Tech for Keck Heating and Air Conditioning Jeremiah Norman.

They said their service techs are taking more breaks and drinking lots of water throughout the day to not get overheated on the job.
