A Missouri woman was arrested after her husband accused her of putting weed killer in his soda.

The Laclede County Sheriff’s Office said 47-year-old Michelle Y. Peters, of Lebanon, was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Court documents state a man came to the sheriff’s office on Monday. He told a detective he believed his wife had been poisoning his Diet Mountain Dew since the first of May.

The man said he noticed it had an odd taste and he began to get sick. He said he also got a sore throat, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and he coughed up a thick mucus.

He told investigators around June 11 or 12, he began to suspect someone was putting something in his soda.

He said when he checked the video surveillance of his garage, he saw his wife taking a two-liter bottle of soda and a bottle of Roundup out of the garage and into the house.

He said she would then return the items to the garage after a bit.

Detectives searched their home and took two bottles of Roundup, a two-liter soda, and a bottle of insecticide.

Peters was arraigned in Laclede County Court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to the charges. She was held in jail without bond.
