Chipola Women's Basketball Program Gets its New Leader

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -The Chipola women’s basketball program has a new head coach and his name is Mitch Rolls. Chipola putting out a release Thursday announcing that hiring. Coach Rolls becoming the ninth head coach of the Lady Indians. He takes over a program that has won 7 state titles and the national championship in 2015.

Rolls comes to Chipola following one season at Iowa Western Community College where he led that program to a 33-4 record and a sixth place finish in the 2024 Division Two National Tournament. The 33 wins a school record.

Prior to Iowa Western, Rolls coached Labette Community College, another D-two program, in Parson, Kansas, for 8 seasons. His record there 159-66 with two conference titles in that span.

Rolls played college basketball at Colgate University in New York, got his degree there. Also played pro ball in the Czech Republic.

Coach Rolls takes over for John Marcum who guided the Lady Indians for one season, leaving a few weeks ago to take an assistant coaching job at the University of Pittsburgh.
