JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - A man is in custody after a deadly shooting in Jackson.

It happened on Tuesday morning near the intersection of Bienville Drive and Primrose Street.

A press release says Xavier Wells, 34, is charged with murder, possession of a firearm, and a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

According to Jackson PD, detectives found the victim, Cortez Dunlap, dead from a gunshot wound.

Residents told 3 On Your Side that they heard several gunshots around 5 a.m.

Our crews spotted a tow truck hauling a car with what appeared to be a single bullet hole in the front windshield.

According to JPD, the incident could be domestic.
