What does Social Impact Concierge mean? At Ámaxa, we pride ourselves on being the bridge between nonprofits, NGOs, IGOs, and dedicated volunteers. A Social Impact Concierge is an organization that is able to connect volunteers with partners that are working to create change and make a positive impact on the causes that they believe in. Our role as Social Impact Concierge is to ensure that every volunteer experience is a net positive for both organizations and volunteers. By curating social impact initiatives specifically geared towards students, we help create meaningful experiences that benefit our students and our partners’ causes. We go beyond just matching volunteers with opportunities. We equip students with marketable skills, purpose, and the guidance they need to truly make a difference. From training on professionalism and fundraising to becoming comfortable with remote working, we provide comprehensive support to ensure our partner organizations have the ability to feel fully supported by our cohorts. Our ultimate goal is for students to leave their volunteer experience with a renewed sense of purpose, motivation, and confidence that they can create the change they hope to bring to the world. The Ámaxa Mental Health First Aid At Ámaxa, we are passionate about creating original and innovative initiatives that bridge gaps in important social impact areas. Mental Health First Aid is one of our newest initiatives. It is currently broken down into 2 focuses: -The first focus is to create a database of resources at the country, state and local level so that anyone struggling can easily find help, resources and community. -The second focus is to begin outreach and interviews with researchers and educators in the youth mental health field with the intention to build a mental health course that can be implemented in schools worldwide. We hope to bring mental health education and practices into classrooms through peer to peer conversation, teaching and learning! Not only will this project engage in impactful work, but it will also give members of our cohorts the opportunity to hone their research, analysis and communication skills – all of which will be transferable for them as they begin their journeys into the professional world. The Ámaxa Original Global Forest Initiative As Ámaxa continues to grow, we have worked to create our own initiatives that address issues we feel passionately about in new and innovative ways. One of these initiatives is The Ámaxa Global Forest Project, which focuses on the negative effect of excess carbon dioxide on the climate. The program plants trees, then measures the carbon sequestration of those trees. Carbon sequestration is the process of capturing and storing carbon compounds from the environment, which reduces the greenhouse effect and helps mitigate climate change. These measurements further our knowledge about which trees are most helpful to the climate effort. We are excited to announce our upcoming Summer Cohort! This cohort will be working with 2 of our amazing partners:  -Ukrainian Action supports the survival and recovery of Ukraine. They are a US nonprofit and UK charity that has been driving trucks with humanitarian aid to the Polish-Ukrainian border. They have already had 57 Humanitarian aid convoys sent from the UK to Ukraine as well as helped 291 vehicles be donated and delivered. They use government and community resources to make sure children are able to receive quality education. Not only do they do everything in their power to improve education, but also raise money for children to be able to pay school tuition to receive an education.
