It ain’t what you do, it’s the people that do it for you who make a company successful, according to mobile phone boss Marc Allera.

The chief executive of EE, which took the top spot in the Sunday Times Best Big Companies to Work For lists this year, says: “You’ve got to start with your employees.

“If they don’t understand where we’re trying to go, how can we deliver against our plan?”

Applications are now open for the 2019 Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For lists. Any public or private company, partnership, government agency or not-for-profit organisation that is at least five years old is eligible to enter one of our four categories.

They are: big companies (3,000-plus employees), mid-size (250-3,000), small (50-250) and not-for-profit.

Applications close on September 14 for big organisations and September 28 for small and mid-size.
