These were found at research sites last year on older trees. This year, they have begun to infest our study trees. We believe these are redheaded pine sawflies but I would like confirmation. They tend to either rear up or curl tightly when disturbed. They are soft, very prolific, and have greenish guts. They have completely defoliated many trees leaving behind a large amount of excrement at the base.
