The 2023 programme includes: 21 Industry sessions, Craft Summit sessions, 4 Marketplace sessions, 4 Live Pitch sessions, The Filmmaker Challenge (with Kevin Macdonald), an Alternate Realities Summit, 6 Marketplace Rough Cuts and selected BFI DocSociety Works In Progress screenings (by invitation), as well as the 2023 MeetMarket pitching forum.

The leading UK docfest invites audiences and professionals alike to “spark [their] curiosity” for documentary from June 14 to 19. The film programme includes 37 World Premieres, 20 International Premieres, 10 European Premieres, 47 UK Premieres and 8 retrospective films - all from 52 countries of production. The fest opens with the world premiere of Paul Sng’s Tish.

MeetMarket, Sheffield’s flagship industry event for new documentary features and series, is open for projects. Now in its 18th year, the MeetMarket is one of the world’s most important markets and pitching forums for documentary and factual programming, and looks to connect docmakers from across the world with UK and international industry experts. Submissions deadline: February 17 2023.

Joining December 19 from the BFI’s UK Global Screen Fund, Grundy will be responsible for the fest’s business affairs, partnerships & fundraising, production & operations as well as audience development. The role is a new, joint leadership position and will work collaboratively with Raul Niño Zambrano who has moved into the role of Acting Creative Director.
