Doclisboa unveils Arché projects

Doclisboa’s Arché project development lab will take place this year October 19 to 25 during Nebulae, the industry programme of the 21st Doclisboa (19-29 October).

This year, 354 projects from 20 Ibero-American countries and Italy applied and 15 were selected (12 film projects and 03 research and criticism projects), hailing from 10 countries and all at different stages of production.

A pitching session exclusive to film professionals with Nebulae accreditation will take place on October 21. Over the following days, the participants will work with tutors and attend a series of meetings with film professionals to foster new business opportunities. The tutors are Helena Girón (director and professor, Spain), Nicolás Rincón Gille (director and professor, Colombia), Tiago Hespanha (director and producer, Portugal) and Salvador Amores (programmer and critique, Mexico). 

The selected film projects are:

  • The Scarlet Temple Oracle by Pedro Maia de Brito, Ralph Antunes, Brazil
    A Certain Civilization by Leandro Listorti, Argentina 
  • Compadre Fannie by Iván Mora Manzano, Ecuador
  • The Caoba Couplets, by Francisco MeCe, Colombia
  • Her Body by Ana Moreira, Portugal
  • The Wall of Sound by Leonardo da Rosa, Portugal
  • Teacher’s Room by Alice Riff, Brazil
  • Your Back Still Burns by Fábio Silva, Portugal
  • An Oscillating Shadow by Celeste Rojas Mugica, Argentina, Chile, France
  • Want to Cancel by Vitor Guerra, Brazil

The selected Criticism and Research Projects are:

  • Five in the Seventies by Lautaro Garcia Candela, Argentina
  • Records of Resistance: Concurrences in Central America’s Non-Fiction Anti-Imperialist Cinema by Alonso Aguilar, Costa Rica
  • A Super-8 Camera in Black Brazilian Hands: The Home Movie of Odilon Lopez by Lorenna Rocha, Brazil

The RAW – Residencies Arché→Work training programme and artistic residencies co-organized with the Márgenes Film Festival (Madrid, Spain) will take place from October 19 to November 28. Three film projects and three research projects were selected from 5 Iberoamerican countries (Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Spain and Mexico). This year RAW offers a new dimension to its program: after the residency in Lisbon, the participants will take part in an immersion session with the mentoring of Tiago Hespanha, from November 16 to 23, in the Residencia El Azahar in Trujillo. This stage of the program aims to provide a space dedicated to socializing and collective creation. The last part of the programme happens during Márgenes Film Festival (November 24 to 28).

During the programme, the residents will have meetings and sessions with professionals of the film industry, such as João Salaviza, Renée Nader Messora, Vasco Pimentel, among others.
