Extreme weather events and politics remain strong drivers of the electricity market. This is what Andy Sommer, Head of Fundamental #Analysis, #Modelling & #Meteorology, and his team write in the July edition of the European Energy Markets Monthly. Other key highlights: 🌦 Swiss hydropower surged due to high precipitation, but export restrictions put downward pressure on Swiss prices. 📈 EPEX Spot power cut on June 25 led to market decoupling and high electricity prices in Germany. The spot price soared to 492 EUR/MWh. ⚛ High French #nuclear production increased exports but raised domestic prices. 🔥 Gas markets saw an uptrend due to tight LNG supply and maintenance 📉 Coal prices dropped amid to low Chinese demand. 🌱 Decarbonizing industry with green hydrogen 🇫🇷 This is one of the goals of the "Arv'Hy" project, which focuses on increasing #hydrogen mobility, aims to gradually decarbonize the region between #Geneva and #Chamonix.  💬 Today, interested people, local politicians and business representatives were able to gain an insight into the project.  💡 Together with project partners such as Atawey Hydrogen, Jean Lain Mobilités, LSBN et Crédit Agricole de Savoie, #Axpo was part of the launch of the "Arv'Hy" project. The first hydrogen vehicles should be able to refuel at a newly built H2 filling station in Vougy by mid-2025. 🚚 Axpo project developer Max Gantet took a look for himself in a hydrogen car: “Axpo offers its expertise in renewable energies and hydrogen." 🇮🇹 In addition to France, the H2 project in Valle Peligna - together with Infinite Green Energy - was also in the spotlight this week. Project manager Livia Pastore from the H2 team presented the background at the #GETConference. 💬 Her conclusion: "Many questions and interest shown by a diversified audience and fruitful discussions with potential partners and new cooperations". ⚡ Here, too, the focus is on decarbonization through green hydrogen. In Milan, the project managers gave an insight into the H2-project and the possibilities for reducing CO2 emissions. 💧 With the "Valle Pelinga" project, Axpo is planning one of the largest green hydrogen plants in Italy. The project envisages a 30 MW electrolyzer powered by a 45 MWp solar plant. 🌬️ Axpo gives investment green light for Vörå wind farm Axpo's wind team in Finland moves forward with the construction of the Lålax wind farm in Finland’s Vörå municipality. This marks a significant step in expanding wind energy in Finland and underscores Axpo Group commitment to sustainable energy solutions in the region. 🌍 Sustainable energy production Axpo plans to commission four wind turbines, each boasting 6.2 MW of output and a hub height of 134 meters. The wind farm is expected to be fully operational by autumn 2025, generating approximately 70 GWh annually, equivalent to powering 17,500 households with renewable electricity. 🏢 Local impact and management Located just 25 kilometers from Axpo's Vaasa office, the project will be managed closely to ensure efficient development and construction overview. Joakim Ingves, Axpo’s Head of Wind Activities in Finland, highlighted the strategic advantages of the location, emphasizing job creation and local economic benefits. The project aligns with Finland's ambitious climate goals, aiming for climate neutrality by 2035. ♻️ Advancing renewable energy strategies This initiative reinforces Axpo’s commitment to expanding its wind power activities across Europe, complementing its substantial portfolio developed through Volkswind in Germany and France.
