It is important to pay the CAZ charge when you enter the zone. If payment is not made within the charging window, you will be charged a Penalty Charge Notice of up to £120, in addition to the original CAZ charge for your vehicle.
Some vehicles will be eligible to apply for an exemption meaning that they will not be required to pay the daily charge. Read more about exemptions.
Payments can be made on the central government website.
You are able to pay the CAZ charge up to 6 days in advance of entering the zone, and you have up to 6 days after. You will not receive a reminder that you’ve entered the CAZ and need to pay a charge so it is important that you check if you will need to pay.
You can apply for a refund if you have paid for a journey in advance, but then choose not to enter the zone on that day. You must apply by 6pm the day before the journey date.
We will make any refund using the same payment method that you paid the charge with. A £3 administration fee will be deducted from your refund.
If you claim a refund but still travel into the CAZ in a non-compliant vehicle, you may receive a Penalty Charge Notice.
