Description
Nederlands: Deze kaart van het gebied rondom de stad Calais werd in 1662 door Joan Blaeu (1598-1673) gepubliceerd in zijn grote wereldatlas, de Atlas Maior. Het karakter van stad en land - Calais was een belangrijke marinehaven - wordt verbeeld door de soldaten en zeelieden die rondom de titelcartouche zijn gegroepeerd. Hoewel dat niet zeker is, werd de kaart mogelijk gekopieerd naar een voorbeeld van Sebastien de Beaulieu uit omstreeks 1642.
English: The map of Calais and vicinity was published in the Atlas Maior in 1662 by Joan Blaeu (1598-1673). The character of the city and country - Calais was an important harbour - has been depicted by the soldiers and seamen. The map was possibly copied after an example by Sebastien de Beaulieu from about 1642.
