A barnstar for you!

The Special Barnstar
Thanks for deleting my picture! Mirror Freak 19:55, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. That's why no images of me exist on the internet, and never will. INeverCry 19:35, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I ask you why you deleted these files while the deletion discussion is still going on. Please restore these files, or comment about the reason to delete at this discussion. Most sincerely. --紫陽花の下 (talk) 15:49, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

These were CSD tagged by the DR nominator after the DR was filed. I've restored one of them, but the other, with the bird, is above TOO, so will have to stay deleted. INeverCry 19:22, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your restoration. The deletion discussion has closed as KEEP, How should I do to restore other files? Can I ask you? Or should I request at Commons:Undeletion requests? --紫陽花の下 (talk) 13:50, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The uploader of the logo that remains deleted (B1mbo) voted  Delete in the DR. That logo contains a very complex image of a bird and a ball. You can take that to COM:UDEL, but I don't see how such a logo can be hosted here without OTRS permission from the copyright holder. INeverCry 17:41, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Zombies

Hiya INC: I tried to delete these days ago, and apparently it didn't let me, see https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/French_navigational_templates_created_by_Hermes79#French_navigational_templates_created_by_Hermes79. I tried again today and I don't even have a delete button on those pages. Any ideas? Yes, I was logged in! Ellin Beltz (talk) 18:59, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've deleted them. DelReqHandler comes up with errors now and then. Make sure files delete when you're first going thru them, and if they don't, and you get an api error, etc, try reloading/purging the page and trying again with DRH. You can also use the garbage can icon on the page, or the delete function in the dropdown list on the page. INeverCry 19:33, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for zapping them. I hope they stay down this time. Ellin Beltz (talk) 05:11, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's alright, I got them in the head. INeverCry 05:14, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Why did you delete that photo? I took it so there is no copyright violation. Sebastian27 (talk) 08:49, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The image was deleted per COM:PRP because it's very small (84kb), has no COM:EXIF, and is of a pro footballer, all of which puts your claim of authorship in doubt. Can you upload a larger version with EXIF intact, or, if you cropped it from a larger file, can you upload that original file with EXIF? Also, remember that you have the option of posting an undeletion request at COM:UDEL if you want to. INeverCry 17:46, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File:Angel-sessions-logo.png

Hi,

You deleted the file File:Angel's Logo.png per Commons:Deletion requests/File:Angel's Logo.png. It appears that same person who uploaded that file has re-uploaded it using the same rationale as File:Angel-sessions-logo.png. Should this one be tagged for deletion as well? - Marchjuly (talk) 11:22, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The uploader is claiming they are the copyright holder at COM:VP#Angel's Logo.png flagged for deletion by El Grafo, but I am not sure if such a claim is enough to keep the file on Commons. - Marchjuly (talk) 12:10, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've deleted the logo again, and left a message asking the user not to re-upload but rather to send OTRS permission. INeverCry 17:37, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. If the uploader really does hold copyright then there should be no problem once they file an OTRS. - Marchjuly (talk) 21:03, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

User:Cleo8it

Hi, I noticed that you deleted the images submitted by User:Cleo8it. The images were created by her, through a digital facial reconstruction program (they are not photographs of people, but digital reconstructions of their skulls) and are her own work. I personally asked her to upload the images after viewing them on her website (which lists her Commons username as an email address, which indicates that she was the author). Please consider restoring them, as they were used for several Wikipedia articles and were quite useful. Thanks, --Gourami Watcher (talk) 14:05, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In order to restore them, we would need her to confirm permission for hosting them on Commons by sending an email to COM:OTRS. We require this in order to have direct evidence that the copyright holder has released the images under a free license. This way, Commons and the copyright holder are protected. It doesn't take too long for OTRS to process an email and restore images. INeverCry 17:52, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I just sent the person the information for the permissions site. Is it okay if the names of the deleted files are used? Would they know that the files were previously deleted and need to be restored? Thanks!Gourami Watcher (talk) 00:06, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The OTRS member who handles the email will sort all that out. They'll know what needs to be done and will guide the copyright holder through the process. INeverCry 01:08, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Did u consider Commons:Threshold_of_originality#Switzerland and the verdict of Swiss Federal Court?--Sanandros (talk) 05:46, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I considered our Swiss TOO guidelines given in English. A bat with a parachute is a very original and creative work. I doubt it was based on any previous parachuting bats, and so I think it's above TOO in Switzerland as I understand it. I stand by my deletion. If you disagree, please take this to COM:UDEL. Smiling Sun

Hi

You closed Commons:Deletion requests/File:Gekaufte Artikel Nein Danke.svg as delete.

What are your plans for the rest of the logos in Category:Smiling Sun? --MGA73 (talk) 08:02, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Since you say that the the OTRS permission is questionable regarding derivatives, I would personally think the thing to do would be to file a mass DR for all the images in that category where the logo isn't DM, then remove the Smiling Sun cat from the ones that're left (most, if not all of them, are in other protest-related cats), and then delete Category:Smiling Sun. Would that be agreeable to you? I ask because I would be using your name to back up the questionable OTRS/derivatives claim in the potential mass DR. INeverCry 08:28, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I do not think that I directly said the permission is questionable regarding derivatives.
I tried to say that you could perhaps argue that the permission was not 100 % best practice because
  • OOA say that they would like to have the logo on Wikipedia
  • OOA reserve the right to sue use of the logo in a libel way (not sure "libel" is the correct term in English)
I'm sure that someone is out there have more legal expertice than I have so I think that they should decide if the two things are a problem.
It would be logic to start a mass DR because either the permission is ok and all files are ok or the permission is not ok and all files must go. --MGA73 (talk) 16:33, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@MGA73: See Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Smiling Sun. INeverCry 17:48, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted file: File:Malea_shoot.png

Hello. I think you have mistakenly deleted the image File:Malea_shoot.png -- I represent the copyright owner of this file and was authorized to post this to Wikimedia. The photograph licensed with a CC-BY-SA 4.0 license and is freely available on Malea's website. I have opened a ticket with OTNS to be sure, but thought, perhaps, I should comment on this deletion mistake on your page to let you know that the permissions existed for this photograph to be posted and shared. Thank you.

I didn't make any mistake in the deletion. You gave the author as Malea McGuinness and Douglas Kaplan. You gave no evidence of any permission to host this file on Commons under a free license. There was no link to a free license statement at the website you sourced this image to, and no OTRS permission. Anyways, If the OTRS checks out, they'll restore it for you. INeverCry 09:05, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the reply. OTRS did restore it for me. Thank you and be well.
Thanks, I'm glad to hear it. Take care. INeverCry 20:56, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Escultura Leitor

I would like to make sure we are on the same page regarding the following file:

File:Escultura Leitor.jpg

I received a permission statement. The name on the permission statement was not the same name as the sender. As you know, in the case of a photograph of a sculpture we need confirmation from both the photographer as well as the creator of the work. In this specific case the name in the permission statement was the photographer while the person who sent the permission was the sculptor. I wrote back and asked for confirmation that both parties were agreeing to the permission and just this morning received confirmation. Let me know if you think there are still some outstanding issues.--Sphilbrick (talk) 13:45, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I trust your judgement. If you feel confident that the confirmation is solid, then I think we've got everything we need to host the image on Commons. INeverCry 17:52, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please del my file, uploaded by mistake (unclear copyright status and technical problems -not all lines are represented): File:Sala Zgromadzeń Wwa-Ursus parter.svg. Jakubtr (talk) 20:36, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This file is 2 years old and in use on pl.wiki. What is the copyright issue, and is there anything to replace the file with? INeverCry 20:52, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Over this 2 years I've learned more about copyright law. I can't proof that is 100% my own-work, please delete it as "copyvio" or "missing license". On pl.wikipedia it is non-usable, because there is a technical problem, only one type of lines is rendered in PNG. Jakubtr (talk) 21:21, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Something else I don't know how to do

Someone took a photo of a woman with kids in background [1] and tagged it into a template somehow so it shows up on a PILE of wikipages, like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agile_software_development which have little to no relevance to this image. I suspect, boyfriend/girlfriend stuff at work here. Any ideas? Ellin Beltz (talk) 15:58, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You can change the image at w:Template:Software development process. INeverCry 17:23, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've fixed the source/author/date/license of File:Graham_portrait.jpg. I've also relaced the image in all of his articles and fixed the zh.wiki entry listing on Wikidata. INeverCry 17:23, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi INC: I changed the image, and I thank you for the work on the Graham portrait! Off to the salt mines for today.... see you later! Ellin Beltz (talk) 17:26, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure someone will come up with a more appropriate image, if an image is needed. I personally prefer to use images whenever possible. BTW, the book the cruddy scan comes from actually has a lot of nice images of old watches, clocks, cases, etc. I may have to pull a few out and upload them when I get a chance (at much higher quality of course). INeverCry 17:36, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of photo file.

Dear INeverCry,

You recently deleted a file showing a photo of Rubén González and Nick Gold. There was a comment stating that no article linked to this file, although I had included it myself not long ago into the article on Wikipedia:Rubén González (pianist).

Please would you kindly re-instate the file, and then perhaps also let me know how we could prevent a similar deletion from happening again in the future? Should I have added some kind of tag or template to link back to Wikimedia Commons, in order to indicate the file was in use in that article?

Thank you very much for your helpful assistance.

With kind regards;

Patrick. Pdebee (talk) 05:01, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
