I see nothing at the source or Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Iceland that this license is valid. Yann (talk) 08:10, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I looked a bit further for other images of the Icelandic Meteorological Office (as I did not find exactly that elsewhere) and they usually are fully coyrigh protected, so this one probably is as well. Kritzolina (talk) 09:38, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Back in 2021 with the Fagradalsfjall eruption there was some discussion on the IMO's copyright status, which we was discussed at Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Fagradalsfjall_volcanic_eruption_(2021).png. At that time, it was stated that the IMO's Terms and conditions (available here) appeared to allow free use of data and photos as long as the IMO was attributed. If the interpretation of those terms has changed in the interim, it is crucial that we clarify the licensing status, and, if these images are not freely licensed, delete all IMO images from Commons (possibly moving them to English Wikipedia as fair use, if warranted). --Dialh (talk) 10:17, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It is specified: Data means any type of forecast, measurement, observation, calculated result or derived data (i.e. from model calculations). and Anyone can download images (photos) as they appear on our web-site (low resolution) but IMO does not fulfill requests for images in higher resolution. Such requests will possibly be forwarded to the author (photographer). It doesn't seem to me that images are under a free license. Yann (talk) 10:52, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have contacted the Icelandic Meteorological Office and talked to a representative that says that they had talked about the license a while ago and that these images are free to use. She could not find a source (link) but said that she will try to find it and contact me. I will keep you updated. --Steinninn ♨ 10:25, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Keep I just got a phonecall from the Met Office. The website has been updated to make it clear that images are free. [1] The english version will be updated later today. --Steinninn ♨ 12:00, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Keep per Steinninn JM (talk) 17:26, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Keep per Steinninn. IMO clarified their license on their website and the image is free for use. WeatherWriter (talk) 18:07, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Info The text that Steinninn linked to has "Gögn og ljósmyndir sem birt eru á vefsíðum og gagnaþjónum Veðurstofunnar eru til frjálsra afnota nema annað sé tekið fram, enda sé uppruna gagna getið (hvaðan og hvenær gögnum var hlaðið niður). ef þau eru birt eða notuð af öðrum til útgáfu, framsetningar eða annarrar þróunar. Þetta á einnig við um myndræna framsetningu ofangreindra gagna. Afnotaréttur gagna er ekki takmarkaður, hvorki til einkanota né í viðskiptalegum tilgangi, nema þess sé sérstaklega getið." which through Google Translate says "Data and photographs published on the Norwegian Meteorological Agency's websites and data servers are for free use unless otherwise stated, as long as the source of the data is mentioned (from where and when the data was downloaded). if they are published or used by others for publication, presentation or other development. This also applies to the graphical representation of the above data. The right to use the data is not restricted, neither for personal use nor for commercial purposes, unless specifically mentioned."
