JHMO, maybe this flag is fake. I was born and lived 20 years on Hakodate, Japan, the "capital" of the Republic of Ezo, but I've never seen this flag in anywhere of my hometown.--Lyijykyyneleet (talk) 16:14, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

1869年的國旗，你住20年能當什麼證明，況且全世界的維基只有日本對於蝦夷共和國＂事實上政權＂認知有很多批判，你們說的話能信嗎？（國際上，尤其是台灣，都很推崇蝦夷共和國首開民主首例，雖然是局部民主，但是至少元首是被選出來的）而且我用的那張圖片正本( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Ezo#mediaviewer/File:Flag_of_the_Republic_of_Ezo.svg )已經貼在那邊好幾年了，去年年末不知道是誰突然認為那張圖觸及天皇符號，就說是這旗是官方沒有正式承認，甚至聲稱是虛構的，實在太奇怪了吧！如果你能找出文獻證明當年他們真的不是用這個旗再來說好嗎？只會一直拿官方或天皇不承認來做證據，廢話！明治怎麼可能承認蝦夷共和國呢？！--Stvn2567 (talk) 15:25, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Anyway, I want to discuss whether this flag should be removed from commons or not. In other words, question is whether there is any source. Please confine your opinion to subject in question.  Delete Even if it has passed for 7 years, there's no source. This flag is fake. Everything was removed in JAWP. But there is a person who makes a mistake and makes them indicate.  Info I consulted several relevant old document just in case, but I couldn't find so-called Republic of Ezo flag.

• 箱館戦争図 - The picture of the Battle of Hakodate. Author: Unknown. No RoE flag.
• 明治二年蝦夷地七重村開墾條約書 - The document of Meiji 2(1869) Ezo-islands Nanae village's land clearance treaty. RoE signed land clearing treaty with Prussian merchant Richard Gaertner in 1869(See also:w:ja:ガルトネル開墾条約事件, Gaertner land clearing treaty incident). No RoE flag.
• 遊撃隊起終並南蝦夷戦記 - The history of Yuugeki-tai(partizan) and the battle chronicle of the southern Ezo islands. Author:Yagozaemon Tamaoki(w:ja:玉置弥五左衛門). No RoE flag. See page 4-23. Yagozaemon was ex-RoE officer.
• 麦叢録 - Bakusouroku, the record of Battle of Hakodate. Author: Masanoshin Kosugi(w:ja:小杉雅之進). No RoE flag. See page 1-12. Masanoshin was also ex-RoE officer.
• w:ja:User:Craford, author of this file said "もともと私の貼った画像がはってあり、それが消されていたので同じ画像を作成した"(I just made same image and uploaded it to commons, because it was deleted) on w:ja:ノート:蝦夷共和国. Thus he doesn't know references of this flag.
• w:en:User:ZScout370, author of this file on English version Wikipedia said "It's fake, ... There was a JPEG image of the flag on the English Wikipedia, and I just made a vector of that." on File talk:Flag of the Republic of Ezo.svg.

Does somebody know where RoE flag appears on? If somebody know it, I'll change my mind, but if not, it means that this flag is fake. It's not realistic option to delete this flag from every Wikipedia and persuade Wikipedians respectively.
