Description
English: Back of postcard depicting the burning of Fort Dearborn. The original description reads: "Burning of old Fort Dearborn, 1812, Chicago. Fort Dearborn was erected in 1803, on the site of the corner of Michigan Avenue and River Street and in use as an Army post until Aug. 16, 1812, when the Indians destroyed the Fort by fire, after the garrison was massacred the day before. It was rebuilt in 1816."
