Description
English: (mis-named Photo Name--from Grandview Point, or Rim Trail, (to west); View directly NNE, past Walhalla Plateau, SE extension from Kaibab Plateau).
(Original Photo Title: "The Grand Canyon is a steep sided gorge formed by the Colorado River in northern Arizona, United States."
The prominences in view are at east of Vishnu Creek; its northwest canyon is at the base of a flat-topped, Wotans Throne(note shadow on west flank, photo slightly unfocused). The center of the photo has two major prominences (the right one, Rama Shrine, has a ridge for its prominence, no peak. The left major prominence, is Vishnu Temple, 7,529 feet (2,295 m), with a en:caprock of the en:Toroweap Formation, above the white (light tan), en:Coconino Sandstone.

The two canyons in direct view, on Granite Gorge are upstream, at Sockdolager Rapids, Mile 78.5; the northside (North Rim) canyon, is Asbestos Canyon, with three prominences, Krishna Shrine, NW, Vishnu Temple, N, and Rama Shrine, NE; Sheba Temple is SE, overlooking Granite Gorge.
The view looks down "Sockdolager Canyon"(?); Sockdolager Rapid, at the Colorado River, in the gorge.
