Rue Quintefol.

La rue menait à la porte, disparue, Quintefol (ou Quintefou)*, donnant sur le chemin de la vallée de l'Indre.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau dans son dictionnaire de musique, dans l'article "dissonance", parle de la "quinte sol". Y at-il un rapport avec l'activité du quartier*? Dans le Grand-Ouest, la quinte est aussi la distance de cinq lieues autour de la ville (environ 24 km), qui délimite le périmètre de perception de la taxe permettant de financer les travaux de fortification. Le territoire de la ville est partagé en trois : faubourgs, banlieue et quinte. La quinte, au sens de "caprice", utilisé en Touraine, apparaît au XVIème siècle.


  • La porte Quintefou appartenait à la Troisième Enceinte.
  • Les trois cordes du rebec, sorte de violon du Moyen-Âge, étaient accordées de quinte en quinte.
