| Description | I am now on the ferry to Miyajimacho island, about ten minutes across the pond from the Miyajima Guchi transport hub- trams (streetcars) this ferry and trains leave from around here. The Miyajima Island (Miyajimacho island) where I am headed is wherer we have the Itsukushima temple. It’s supposed to be more dramatic at high tide when parts of the shrine are submerged- this has earned the temple the term 'floating temple'. It was low tide now however, and faced with a nearly 45 min back to the train station for my Shinkansen bullet train back to Osaka, time was a luxury I did not have. I could not therefor wait for high tide and had to satisfy myself with visiting the temple when the tide was low,meaning when the waters of the sea were still some distance away and not under the temple itself.
