Description
English: A silver Post Medieval 1/16 Guilder of the Batavian Republic. Obverse; Sailing ship within inner circle, INDIAE BATAVORUM. The coin is dated 1802 below the ship in the obverse legend. Reverse; crowned arms of Holland, * MO ARG ORD F OE D BELG HOL, denomination 1/16 / G in field flanking arms. The Batavian Republic was the successor to the Republic of the United Netherlands. It was proclaimed in 1795, and ended in 1806, with the accession of Louis Bonaparte to the throne of the Kingdom of Holland.
