rempht cettecharge jusquen 1670. Les six volumes des Relations que nous avons de lui, sontintéressants surtout par les détails quils renferment sur les pays de lOuest. Jean Dequen accompagna le P. Le Mercier au Canada en 1635. Il fut dabordchargé de linstruction des enfants à Québec. En 1652, remontant le Saguenay,il découvrit le lac S. Jean, appelé en sauvage Pacouagami. Il mourut à Québecen 1659, victime de son zèle, dans une épidémie. Il avait succédé au P. Le Mer-cier en 1656. Il écrivit la Relation de 1656, qui renferme des détails intéressantssur le pays des Iroquois. Claude Dablon, arrivé au Canada en 1655, fut envoyé cette même année àOnontagué. En 1668, il se rendit avec le P. Marquette à la mission du S. Es-prit sur le lac Supérieur. Ensuite il établit celle du Saut Ste. Marie. Il envoyaen Europe les deux dernières Relations de 1671 et de 1672, qui renferment, sur lespays situés à lOuest et au Nord de Québec, des détails dune grande importance.
