Description |
English: Copper alloy vesica-shaped (pointed oval) seal matrix with ornate suspension loop/handle soldered to the reverse, consisting of a raised triangular piece terminating in two scroll-like curves (one missing). Centre is the softly-curved apex of the triangle. In the body of the triangle three holes (1.2), the top one broken
Device: crossed keys, tops in base, surrounded by flowers and foliage with what may have been a mitre within a crown above, a fleur-de-lys above this. Edge of device area marked by a beaded line; a second beaded line marks the outer edge of the matrix. Legend is in Black Letter script, with foliage in the spaces between words. Whole face in poor condition, with much of the device no longer clear.Measurements: 27 mm x 46.5 mm; back rib 11 mm high at highest point. |
