God gave to Zacharias and Elizabeth, the son he had promised them. They called him John, as the angel had told Zacharias to do; the boy grew,and the Lord blessed him, and he lived in the lonely wilderness, away from therest of the people, until he was a man, and the time had come for him to preachto the Jews, and tell them about Jesus.
