After a busy life of toil, favored with some degree of suc-cess, and having reached that time in life, when the thoughtsof home and home comforts should be recognized and obeyed,I thought there was no better spot in this fair city of ours toenjoy the same than on that lofty peak on Morris Heights,which so enchanted me by its topographical situation that Imade it my home. I realized for the first time, that it waspossible in this city of ours, to enjoy in some measure, thehome life of my early days, and I thought that here I couldfind rest and the realization of the dreams of my toil. It opened up to me the possibilities which now occupyevery active mind, and are worthy of our best thoughts as ex-pressed in the term Greater New York and all that goesto make it such. Every fair minded student of the progress of our city willconcede that there is but one way in which to accomplish thisgreat end, and that is, in the building up of all the territorythat she now owns.
