Summary

[edit]
Description

The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Saratoga (CV-60) and the guided missile cruiser USS Little Rock (CG-4) underway. Saratoga, with assigned Carrier Air Wing 3 (CVW-3), was deployed to the Mediterranean Sea from 6 January to 28 July 1976.

During this cruise, Little Rock suffered a boiler room casualty. A field survey revealed the ship's propulsion system was in a significantly dire material condition and would require extensive and expensive overhauls and repairs. Given the ships age, only minimal repairs were made to allow the ship to transit back to Norfolk, Virginia (USA). The cruiser was then decommissioned on 22 November 1976.
