  • Child labour and child trafficking
  • Empowerment of girls and young women
  • Preventing sexual exploitation and abuse of children
  • Promoting children’s rights in the Justice Systems
  • Human rights and children’s rights education and education on Gender-based violence
  • Elimination and reduction of Child Trafficking

Sucess story:

In the Tubmanburg, Bomi County, a girl was allegedly raped. DCI-Liberia reported the alleged rape case to the Bomi Police Station through the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and it was subsequently reported to the Gender Ministry by the Gender Coordinator who has an oversight responsibility over child related issues.
A joint action point was reached in which an Assessment Committee was established to assist the government in investigating and gathering evidence. Meanwhile, the assessment committee paid a visit to the site in which the incidence occurred and collected evidence that was used in the prosecution of the alleged perpetrator. It was against this back drop, that the alleged perpetrator was arrested and taken to police custody in Bomi county. The alleged perpetrator was later taken for preliminary investigation and charged for the crime of rape. He was subsequently tried in court.
