Born and raised in [[Los Angeles]], Tamblyn trained as a [[gymnast]] in his youth. He began his career as a child actor for [[Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer]]. Tamblyn appeared in the musical ''[[Seven Brides for Seven Brothers]]'' (1954).
