This is the place to nominate someone for Editor of the Week recognition: an unsung hero who has been doing great work for months but is not well known. Create a new section at the bottom of the page for each user you'd like to nominate along with a 100-200 word description of how you think they meet the criteria for Editor of the Week. Please be as specific as you can in describing the tasks and behaviours you feel are worth recognizing, as recipients appreciate hearing it! The nomination may be altered, changed or added to based on the discretion of the "WER clerks" in order to incorporate comments made during the seconding period.

Sample nomination text:

I nominate Easter Bunny for his persistent efforts in tidying up articles. Often editors will hurriedly introduce new information to an article, without placing a full citation, or with spelling and grammatical errors. Over the past four months, Easter Bunny has been fixing the edits of others, doing the tedious work of completing the citation information, copy editing the prose to resolve errors and to align it with Wikipedia's Manual of Style, and fixing links to other articles. Here are some examples: [1] [2] In addition, Easter Bunny has a great positive attitude in discussions with other editors: he always finds the most promising aspects of the comments of others, and follows up on them in trying to build a genuine consensus. Without willing editors to perform cleanup tasks, Wikipedia could not sustain its level of participation from one-time editors who just want to get in and out with their edits as soon as possible. Easter Bunny is a great example of a Wikipedia editor who improves the community through his excellent work! isaacl (talk) 03:58, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Shearonink

I nominate Shearonink (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for his hard work on Wikipedia. Shearonink has been around a long time (20K edits, 36% to articles) and talks a lot of sense, but hasn't had much recognition of those facts. He used to live in at the IRC help channel, helping out those who needed it and that used to be a lot of people (I don't really go in there any more, so I can't talk for more recent events). Ever since his friends have started leaving, he seems to have slightly disappeared. I wanted him to know that it's not just his friends who appreciate who he is! It is all of Wikipedia. Nomination of Ukexpat

I nominate Ukexpat (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for helping out editors and non-editors alike. I know him for his hard work at OTRS and the Teahouse, and although I haven't checked recently, I'm sure he's still helping people out on a regular basis. He's one of our most active editors with over 109k edits and just doesn't seem to get recognition for that fact. Almost 50% of his edits are to article space while most of the rest are used to help fellow collaborators. WormTT(talk) 10:10, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Hordaland

I nominate Hordaland (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for his work on sleep related articles. Hordaland has been around for years and focussing almost exclusively on the topic which he has brought to excellent standards. His dedication and diligent work on medicine related pages is well known by his fellow collaborators and appreciated by all. WormTT(talk) 10:10, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Adrian J. Hunter

I nominate Adrian J. Hunter (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for his work at the Help Desk, where he's helped hundreds of users. He's been around for a few years (2006), but no one seems to realise how much good work he's done. He always uses the edit summary which displays his courtesy focused nature toward fellow editors. WormTT(talk) 10:10, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Thewellman

I nominate Thewellman (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for his large body of article work. His varied interest has led to participation in Projects about transportation, firearms, rivers, water and many more. He's generally friendly and helpful where I've seen his work, to the extent that I was looking at nominating him to be an admin just last year. WormTT(talk) 10:10, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Boghog

I nominate Boghog (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for his excellent work on science related articles. We need more people who are willing to help out in topics such as medicine and science, with the knowledge levels that will allow decent quality articles. It's something I know I can't do, so to see someone so prolific doing such good work is fantastic. WormTT(talk) 10:10, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination for Seppi333

I nominate Seppi333 (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for bringing Amphetamine to FA status, Adderall and Methamphetamine to GA status, and generally for being friendly and constructive at and around WT:PHARM and Template talk:Infobox drug. The standards for a medical FA are extremely high, but Seppi was incredibly patient and persistent and succeeded in gaining the first pharmacology FA star for over three years.ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 11:23, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination for Megalibrarygirl

I nominate Megalibrarygirl (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for creating 174 new articles in the last year. She has been a consistent contributor to content on women's issues, both as article creator and for expansion. Of her 17,363 edit total, only 301 of them have been minor edits. Megalibrarygirl has helped Wikipedia's efforts to increase the encyclopedia's content on women, both in the United States and elsewhere in the world. Nomination of JoJan

I nominate JoJan (talk · contribs · count · logs), who was the founder of WikiProject Gastropods, back in May of 2004, and for two years there were no other members. JoJan toiled away, steadily adding many new articles, and keeping an eye on all new edits to the project, all through that decade, including the boom years, which for us were the years from 2009 to 2012. Many project members have left now or are now relatively inactive, but JoJan still keeps working away steadily, with no special praise and no recognition. He is extremely responsible, level-headed and dedicated. That's why I am nominating him. Invertzoo (talk) 14:37, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Summer

I gladly nominate SummerPhDv2.0 (talk · contribs · count · logs). I just went searching for info on 4 editors to nominate and Summer was the first I ran into, and perhaps the most controversial of them (the three others are slamdunks ) but who are we (you) to avoid someone this dedicated to creating the best possible wikipedia that can be while sometimes functioning as a lightning rod. A good thing. ...Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 19:12, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Michael Barera

I nominate Michael Barera (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for cumulative contributions since he signed up in 2011. Not only has he made substantive content edits at the English Wikipedia, but his image contributions to Commons have been impressive. Overall, he's been busy in multiple Wiki sites. A contributor to DYK. A good contributor like this is someone we want to retain and encourage to do more, more, more. — Maile (talk) 21:22, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Corinne

I nominate Corinne (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for her tireless and persistent efforts copy editing articles submitted by other editors to the Guild of Copy Editors (GOCE). Her meticulous, subtle attention to detail and ability to turn a phrase are unique on Wikipedia. She does this discretely and seeks no acknowledgement for her efforts. Corinne takes on the hard articles; topics that would go over most people's heads. Here is a snapshot of her most recent GOCE undertakings:

As you can see, Corinne is not picking the low-hanging fruit to copy-edit. It is my estimation that Corinne fully copy edits an article every other day. Additionally, if Corinne does not know how to fix a phrase she collaborates with other editors to find a solution. Even with a Master's in English, Corinne is humble enough to ask for help when she gets stuck. Corinne is a classy editor who brings nothing but good things to the encyclopedia. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 07:10, 23 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Nvvchar

I nominate Nvvchar (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for significantly contributing to articles related to the geography of several countries, especially India. His works, most recently on religious scriptures, are of high quality and have extensively improved Wikipedia's coverage – he has 1483 DYKs and 66 GAs to his name, and lots of others that are B or C class. I have had the pleasure of interacting with him through GA reviews, and he has always been polite and humble. I have noticed him in many good collaborations with other editors. I feel we all are quite fortunate to have such a gem among us, he truly deserves this award. Thanks. Sainsf <^>Feel at home 12:12, 23 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of FunkMonk

I nominate FunkMonk (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for his thankless contributions to Wikipedia's coverage on extinct animals, most notably Dodo. He is a most amiable, polite and helpful editor, a good colleague of mine here, and has quite a lot of GAs and FAs to his name. Moreover, he is a prominent uploader of a variety of images. I feel he deserves greater recognition for his efforts. Thanks. Sainsf <^>Feel at home 12:21, 23 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Ghmyrtle

I nominate Ghmyrtle (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for a number of reasons. Coming up to 10 years editing at Wikipedia and has created 888 articles and is ranked 572 on on the list of Wikipedians by number of edits - a significant contribution in anyone's book. A stalwart at music articles, particularly R&B, pop and soul - both US and UK. Often hunting out less well known artists. Always adding good material and consistently avoiding any kind of drama. He's also made thousands of careful contributions to geographical articles and has a very good eye for detail. A patient editor, he's always more willing to suggest and help than to fight - he's never been blocked, which is more than I can claim. I don't know if he's ever been nominated for this award before, but he certainly deserves a nomination. Martinevans123 (talk) 15:50, 23 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Peter I. Vardy

I'd like to nominate Peter I. Vardy (talk · contribs · count · logs) for this award. Peter is the model of quiet, methodical unassuming and careful article creation, with more than 100,000 contributions. 510 DYK articles, and 2075 entire articles. His creation of articles for churches, especially in the North West of England, is just stunning - there ought to be a special award just for this - but he's created plenty more besides. And it's all top quality, mostly faultless at the first appearance. My own pitiful mistake-ridden stumbling about looks meagre by comparison. He has a impressive eye for detail. An unassuming and efficient editor who has made a huge contribution. Take a look at his awards. He also deserves this one. Martinevans123 (talk) 15:59, 23 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Ipigott

I nominate Ipigott (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for his tireless efforts to improve WP. Ian speaks multiple languages (English Danish, French, German, Spanish, as well as having a working knowledge of Dutch, other Scandinavian and romance languages) and is an amazing resource for other editors in helping with translations and sourcing. He has been extremely active [3] in creating articles focused on Scandinavia, Luxembourg, music, art, architecture, literature and women. He is a champion of the Women in Red project. Truly a Renaissance man, his expertise in many areas is staggering and his contributions to GA have included over 20 entries, not the least of which were creation of Malouma, the improvement of Jean Sibelius for his 150th anniversary and improvement of Carl Nielsen which he later promoted to FA. Besides creating over 6,000 pages and bringing over 200 articles to DYK, he is a tireless behind the scenes editor, sending invitations and thank yous for editathons, helping source newly created articles, creating lists to eliminate orphaned articles, adding categories, and in general encouraging and supporting other editors. Nomination of Teblick

I nominate Teblick (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for his work in creating articles about old radio programs and those who performed on them. See his user page for those he has created or expanded since joining Wikipedia in 2014. He has also created a page with links to help with researching old time radio.

Nomination of Dawnseeker2000

I nominate Dawnseeker2000 (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for his tireless efforts against vandalism and all the minor cleanup edits he does for numerous articles. Moreover, he writes excellent articles on earthquakes. I had the pleasure of interacting with him through a GA review, and I truly appreciate his polite and humble attitude. Indeed, he deserves this award. Sainsf <^>Feel at home 02:58, 24 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Oshwah

I nominate Oshwah (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week because of his diligent anti-vandal work (check his contributions.) He does a lot of WikiGnome work, and he does not want any recognition for his contributions. Peter Sam Fan 16:23, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Ohconfucius

I nominate Ohconfucius (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for his great work in developing scripts for the system here, which, as per the comments now in the bottom of his user talk page here, have been praised by the Wikimedia Foundation. He has over the years been an extremely beneficial and productive editor as well, and someone I had come to trust more or less implicitly in our articles relating to the extremely controversial Falun Gong related articles. Given the quality of his content contributions, and the fact that the WMF thinks his work deserves their praise, then I think he certainly deserves our praise and thanks as well. Nomination of Doc James

I nominate Doc James, to be Editor of the Week, as per his edit count alone last year was more than 30,000+.[4] I do realize he is an administrator, however in the case of an individual who is always willing to help perhaps an exception can be made. Also it goes without saying wikiproject Medicine would not be a top wikiproject if not for him, thank you--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 23:40, 5 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
