Norse mythology refers to Odin being crucified voluntarily 9 days (not sure if it was 9 days though), so maybe the "crucifixion of Christ" on this cross is not depicting Jesus at all, but rather Odin? Just a thought, though 195.130.159.38 14:16, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I conversely was wondering if the carvers had used images in their Norse style to tell Bible stories, I think the one looks like Jonah in the whale's mouth. It was obviously a time of transistion, so it would have been natural for them to depict scenes from the Bible in the way they were familiar with.
