The Walking Dead comics references for use

[edit]

Below is an incomplete list of The Walking Dead comic issues for ease of referencing please help to complete it for ease of use. – TacfuJecan (talk) 03:48, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I added some missing issues using the Template:Cite comic --Frankthetankk 06:57, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
Wow, thanks! Great work. If I can find some time to do it, these need to be added to character pages. 73.9.169.145 (talk) 21:11, 15 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I added the rest of the citations. I fixed some errors on the existing citations as well. Welcome to check my work, it should be complete now, besides #100 which I left out the different cover artists which range from cover A to F. When the title of Volume 23 is released it needs to be added to the list. --Frankthetankk 09:18, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
Fixed wiki links to Dave Stewart --Frankthetankk 08:00, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
As of right now, rebalanced the 4 columns (the last five entries should extend Col 4 to the approximate height when filled in), and moved user 73.9.169.145's comment up to be with the other comments. Thanks. - Salamurai (talk) 01:15, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Citations for every issue

Is it really necessary to cite each issue number with the issue number? Seems horribly redundant to me. —Frungi (talk) 04:11, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Extra cites are better than a lack of sites, also people seem to not get that this is an article for the comics and assume the numbers are related to the show.TacfuJecan (talk) 04:12, 22 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So why are some issue numbers uncited? Shouldn’t they all be, if that’s what we’re doing here? For instance, “Series Lifespan: #27–48,[2] #72,[23] #75”—#27 and 75 are uncited, and #48 and 72 are cited. Why? —173.199.215.5 (talk) 20:41, 22 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I added cites to each issue along with page numbers and in some cases panel numbers using WP:SRF, H:FOOT.--Frankthetankk 07:03, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

Series lifespans

[edit]

I would just like to ask everyone who edits this article to please become familiar with MOS:DASH. In particular, you should use the en dash for ranges like #75–present, not a hyphen. The en dash is the first clickable character below the editing area; please click it when editing this article. Or here’s one you can copy and paste: if that’s what you prefer. —173.199.215.5 (talk) 03:23, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mark, Robert, Nathan and Roy

[edit]

There is no such characters yet revealed, will someone confirm this? Otherwise delete the four character sections please.--91.154.213.152 (talk) 22:35, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Status?

[edit]

Per WP:MOSFICT "Features often seen in an inappropriate, in-universe perspective include: Using past tense when discussing the plot or any of its elements (except backstory), rather than the historical present tense (my underlining)

And ... " the events within one work of fiction are always in the present whenever it is read, watched, or listened to. In-universe temporal designations such as "current" or "previous" are therefore inappropriate" (my underlining)

Under this perspective, and for this TV serier, yet again, (current) status is inappropriate. We get this problem every year, with every new TV series and then we remove it, revise it, etc.

Every character is dead or alive depending on which episode who are watching. -- Magioladitis (talk) 11:10, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, including "status" stuff in here is clearly in-universe writing.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  09:25, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: move the page, per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 20:05, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

List of The Walking Dead charactersList of The Walking Dead (comics) characters – The Walking Dead comics and TV series feature a lot of the same characters, but the stories often differ radically. Repeatedly, people come to this page thinking they are reading about the characters from the TV show - not realizing they should be looking at List of The Walking Dead (TV series) characters - and think something is "wrong" with the plot descriptions and try to "fix" it, apparently not noticing the lead sentence which specifies that this page is about the comics characters. I propose the page be moved as requested, and that this current page title be used as a disambiguation page. 50.141.204.194 (talk) 17:41, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I understand what you mean, but I don't believe that is a good enough reason to warrant a move. I haven't noticed frequent edits here reflecting the TV series. The characters have developed differently between the comics and TV series. When moved/merged it may be confusing to readers finding specific information on a comic book character vs the TV character. I should note I am currently in the process of rewriting/copy editing the entire List of comic book characters on in my sandbox page. The fact checking in the list is taking some time. --Frankthetankk 17:58, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your help. I think I have seen at least once a week, or maybe every other week, someone will change Judith, Carol, Glenn, or Tyreese to "Alive" or change "Sophia" to "Dead" - the one that prompted this move request was someone changing it so that Bob was the one who got his leg eaten rather than Dale. If you can think of a way to help prevent that from happening, then maybe a page move would not be necessary. 50.141.204.194 (talk) 02:40, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
After reviewing the information more closely I agree with what you said and I approve of this move. --Frankthetankk 03:17, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Series lifespan table problem

[edit]

As much as the table is helpful, I think it would be better if it was arranged in order of the most appearances, rather than first appearance of the character, simply because the table looks cluttered and unidentifiable. By doing that, it will look clearer, will be easier to find characters, etc. I think it's a much better idea. The table is also missing Lilly, the character who killed The Governor and is prominent in the novel series. thelonggoneblues (talk) 22:01, 06 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think it would be more useful if it used text rather than relying on a reader’s ability to see colors (or to see); accessibility is always a good thing, and this table is not accessible. It might actually be better off as an image with a textual description. —174.141.182.82 (talk) 20:40, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Continually outdated terms

[edit]

Terms like “current” and “present” are WP:DATED. Instead, this page should always cite an issue number or time period. —174.141.182.82 (talk) 20:46, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed, I think. Along with a ton of other things. Could still stand some major rewriting. —174.141.182.82 (talk) 05:32, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Considering AFD

[edit]

Is there a need for this page when we have pages dedicated to every notable (nearly all) character and group from this series? Seems pointless and redundant. I thought “list” pages were generally useful for listing items that were not notable enough for their own articles. —174.141.182.82 (talk) 03:48, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Improvements

[edit]

Could we maybe address major characters in a single section, and remove some of the more marginal characters? Make this article look a bit more like some of the ones at WP:Featured lists? I mean, Tokyo Mew Mew has a better character list than this. I’d have a go myself, but preferably someone more familiar with the series should have at it. —174.141.182.82 (talk) 00:40, 4 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

found a hidden request

[edit]

someone placed a hidden request in the greene family list to include the horse "Buttons" I don't care either way the issues are listed that the horse was in. For or against including horse in Greene family list. Found similar request for including Michonnes pets as their human and then zombified selves. When voting specify which one you're for or against.TacfuJecan (talk) 04:11, 15 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I vote against indiscriminately including every named character. Are there any reasons to include these? —67.14.236.50 (talk) 23:56, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
A week later and no one is for buttons so removed the request found list requesting addition of (Considering adding these other Woodbury characters.

Wes #27–43, Denny #32–32, Lou #32–32, Jameson The Fall of the Governor – #43, Penny #29–43 (Governor's zombie daughter), Scott Moon "The Road to Woodbury" #29 (zombie), Jared #44–47, Smitty #48–48, Tom #43–48, Red #48–48, Gus #47–49, Rudy #31–47, Daniel #45–47, Raymond #31–47, James #45–45, Sam #38–39, #43 (corpse), Stevens #28–32, Eugene #28–31, #72 (flashback), Harold #28–31.) to the Woodbury survivors section.TacfuJecan (talk) 02:39, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Categorizing "Protagonists"

[edit]

A better way to sectionalize the article is arranging it in terms of Protagonists and Antagonists, with the rest being Minor Characters according to where the character is introduced, such as the Alexandria Safe Zone. It's hard to do this because it's subjective, but I don't think we'd need to source some of the main characters.

For example, Rick, Lori, Carl, Andrea, Glenn, Tyreese, Michonne, Maggie, Abraham, Negan, Eugene and Jesus are unquestionably main characters in the series. Other characters like Ezekiel, Morgan, Sophia, etc. are a little harder to distinguish. Carol and Shane I think should be set as minor characters, having a small role to play in the series. But how will we sectionalize it? I think, according to what Kirkman addresses as main characters, issue cover characters, or compendium and book cover characters should be known as main characters. Sophia has been sort of addressed as a main character according to Kirkman, I have a source for that where he states she has contributed quite a lot to the narrative, although even then her role is limited. Thoughts? thelonggoneblues (talk) 04:25, 08 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

anon removing references

[edit]

Some anon is removing all the sources connecting the characters issue appearances which were the in the first place because other anons were changing the numbers to episode numbers, also there was a complaint about lack of sources which those filled and someone placed the "single source" tag even though there are 60+. TacfuJecan (talk) 03:59, 18 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No sign in article that this character justifies their own page. Any Walking Dead fans left who can bring it up to scratch? BoomboxTestarossa (talk) 18:30, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like it meets the WP:GNG to me. 2601:240:E200:3B60:C9A6:A48F:4131:A385 (talk) 06:48, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Again, does anyone have the sources to make this page stand on its' own legs? BoomboxTestarossa (talk) 20:54, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like it meets the WP:GNG to me.
