Updating Card not present page

Hi, I recently updated an article you wrote on "Card not present" and "Card not present transaction", http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Card_not_present, under the section titled "Fraud" so that the text does not state or imply that Regus knowingly participated in the described scam that was uncovered by the FTC. As the article evolved and was written (and the history indicates you may have been the author) the use of the pronoun "they" in third paragraph appeared to inadvertently refer to Regus as the entity committing the scam on consumers. As the cited articles confirm, that is not true. I have therefore corrected the third paragraph to remove the false message. Please contact me should you have any questions. Please also note that we are also contacting Wikipedia about the change. With warm regards, Eric Schroeder, Bryan Cave LLP. Schroeep99 (talk) 22:05, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

More photos for aces

Hello,

For whatever obscure whim, I returned to Flickr and found another bunch of World War I pilots. If you would care to insert these into articles, here's the list:

Incidentally, Beckhardt's photo was misidentified as Hermann Gilly, so I removed it from the Gilly article. However, as Gilly never flew a Siemens-Schuckert D.IIInor had a personal insignia of a swastika, it is obviously a (poor) photo of Beckhardt.

I hope you will post these, as I seem to be moderately hopeless at the task.

Files missing description details

Dear uploader: The media files you uploaded as:

are missing a description and/or other details on their image description pages. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the images, and they will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the images may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 11:56, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Can you clarify the sourcing of this? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:26, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for some of your uploads

Thanks for your uploads to Wikipedia. There is an issue with some of them, specifically:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the images because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the images, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image files themselves. Please update the image descriptions with URLs that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 21:29, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Suffrage Hikes

First and foremost, thank you for putting the 'Suffrage Hikes' article up, the articles on the participants of the Hikes, and other bio data. I see them as of the utmost importance in that not only is this march forgotten, it probably would have not emerged in wikipedia if you hadn't written the pages. If you put the words "Suffrage Hikes" or a variation into search engines, the only solid hit that comes out is your article (with most of the rest being photos). I have never heard of it.

After discovering your data, and reading through it, I added it to the Suffrage template and placed that template on the Hikes article (and am in the process of placing it on the bio pages as well), added a See also (and listed the article to many of the relevant suffrage-related pages) as well as round-robined links to your page, Gandhi's Salt March, and the Selma to Montgomery marches. imnho, it's a very important page.

That being said, my God, man, you've hidden the story in the references! It's got to be dug out and written into the page, with the references acting as, well, references (in "here's how to find it"). And with the Hikes, I'm confused and wonder if you've gotten the dates wrong. From the references it seems Jones led the Albany Hike in 1914 and not 1912. Was the hike to Washington made before or after the Albany march? Were there two Albany Hikes or just one? Who participated in each (by participaing I mean marched the whole way, and then meeting up with Alice Paul's event at the inaguration). Must be made clear on the page.

The women's individual pages as well, the story seems hidden in the references. It really should be brought out. Would you mind if I did some work on the pages? If we can get the data in the references into the 'Suffrage Hikes' page, it will be something. Thanks again for doing what you've done, and I'd enjoy hearing how you came onto the story, how you decided to put an article up on wikipedia, and more of your thoughts on the matter. Thanks. Randy Kryn 1:45 May 12, 2013 (UTC)

p.s. From reading the references on the Hikes page I can't quite figure out who initiated each march. Was the whole thing Jones' idea? Thanks. Randy Kryn 2:04 May 12, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your response on my talk page, and I like the section title you gave it. I'm surprised you aren't "allowed" to create pages anymore, as your discoveries about the Suffrage Hikes and their participants - which you translated into wikipedia articles - are a fine example of "found history" which you then shared with the rest of humanity. As I said, the only problem is you left the bulk of the story in the references, and all of that has to be brought out into the pages themselves (I'm talking mainly of the Suffrage Hikes page). I'll pick at it, and see what I can do, thanks for letting me help with this fine page. A question - from your understanding of the articles did Jones lead a second New York to Albany hike in 1914, or was that a mix-up in the newspaper date? Thanks. Randy Kryn 13:02 15-5-'13

The article Roberta Pedon has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

A tag has been placed on 1995 E. coli O157:H7 outbreak at Jack in the Box, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

it is an incorrectly titled article duplicating the subject of 1993 Jack in the Box E. coli outbreak. The incident took place in 1993 (as noted in the text of this page but not the title). A redirect or page move is not suitable as an article already exists. It is believed that speedy deletion would be uncontroversial (G6 housekeeping) in these circumstances.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Keri (talk) 08:27, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Lindauer-JohnHoward.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Lindauer-JohnHoward.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:09, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Daraft 034.gif

Thank you for uploading File:Daraft 034.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of IDPF

A tag has been placed on IDPF requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:Comm. Byrd's America.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[2][3]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because images on Wikipedia need to be compatible with the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike or another free license, which allow anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. Note, if you did create this file, you may want to upload it to Wikimedia Commons, which will allow the image to be accessed by all Wikimedia Foundation projects (which include the various localized versions of Wikipedia)

If you did not create this media file, please understand that the vast majority of images found on the internet are not appropriate for Wikipedia. Most content on the internet is copyrighted and the creator of the image has exclusive rights to use it. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others - do not upload images that violate others' copyrights. In certain limited cases, we may be able to use an image under a claim of fair use - if you are certain that fair use would apply here, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list. If no fair use rationale applies, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 01:33, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Micah Williams may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Template talk:Marriage, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Template talk:Marriage and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). Arbitration enforcement

I have requested arbitration enforcement about an edit you made at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement. Fram (talk) 06:51, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

September 2013

To enforce an arbitration decision, and for violating your editing restriction as detailed at the AE board,
you have been blocked from editing for 2 weeks. You are welcome to make useful contributions once the block expires. If you believe this block is unjustified, please read the guide to appealing arbitration enforcement blocks and then appeal your block using the instructions there.  Sandstein  12:25, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder to administrators: In March 2010, ArbCom adopted a procedure prohibiting administrators "from reversing or overturning (explicitly or in substance) any action taken by another administrator pursuant to the terms of an active arbitration remedy, and explicitly noted as being taken to enforce said remedy, except: (a) with the written authorization of the Committee, or (b) following a clear, substantial, and active consensus of uninvolved editors at a community discussion noticeboard (such as WP:AN or WP:ANI). If consensus in such discussions is hard to judge or unclear, the parties should submit a request for clarification on the proper page." Administrators who reverse an arbitration enforcement block, such as this one, without clear authorisation will be summarily desysopped.

The article Thompson v. Johnson County Community College has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable court case.

GregJackP Boomer! 01:07, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Thompson v. Johnson County Community College is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thompson v. Johnson County Community College until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. GregJackP Boomer! 04:37, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Excessive copyrighted quotes in user space pages

Please go through your user space subpages and remove all excessive quoting from copyrighted sources (and links to copyright violating sites, if any). Preferably, delete all WP:STALEDRAFTs, pages from years ago that remain indefinitely in your user space. A page like User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )/Antonioli should either be drastically shortened or deleted. Fram (talk) 09:02, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fram has objected to migration of starts to article space from your user space. There probably needs to be an official ruling on this as to whether running new pieces through an intermediary a la Articles For Creation violates the current Arb Com prohibition... Hold off on any migrations for a bit and please make a formal request to Arb Com or at Arb Com Enforcement for a ruling on this.
