The result of the discussion was '''speedy keep'''. As noted below, opposition to a good-faith proposal is not a valid reason to delete it (and even rejected proposals are retained for historical reference). For the record, I'm among those opposing this particular proposal. —[[User:David Levy|David Levy]] 02:56, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia should not be used as a platform to push a thought or issue. The very thought of this being used is saddening as it violates many policies. It is nonneutral. It is POV. Wiki is an encyclopedia, and theres really no gain to have to participate in this event. Which btw, it will probably not be rembered or have much impact. Beerest 2 talk 02:02, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Move; there's a proposal to rename the page to Wikipedia:Surveillance Awareness day. If there are POV problems with encyclopedic content within the page, they may be corrected without deletion. The MfD guidelines advise:

Proposals still under discussion generally should not be nominated. If you oppose a proposal, discuss it on the policy page's discussion page. Consider being bold and improving the proposal. Modify the proposal so that it gains consensus. Also note that even if a policy fails to gain consensus, it is often useful to retain it as a historical record, for the benefit of future editors.

Beerest 2's only edit to the project was to add the {{mfd}} template. —rybec 02:38, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep The purpose behind this is for the main page to have entirely neutral unbiased content.....that just happens to be cratered around a particular theme. It would be no different to an animal-themed day (on the day of a nature-related event), or a maths-themed day in the anniversary of einsteins birth, think of it as the google doodle of Wikipedia.--Coin945 (talk) 02:42, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
