Re: Adminship?

I always see your excellent work with images and fair use and I'm wondering if I could nominate you for adminship as you clearly need the tools. Thanks Jaranda wat's sup 00:38, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you feel I could become more helpful as an Admin, and believe there will be others to support your opinion, I would be more than honored to take this responsability. --Abu Badali 04:05, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I would create your nom tommorrow night. Jaranda wat's sup 05:14, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The RFA questions need to be answered before I place the RFA in the WP:RFA page. Thanks Jaranda wat's sup 20:50, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on them right now. Thanks for the support, and sorry for the delay! --Abu Badali 21:00, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You may want to move the answer of question number 1 to questions number 2 or 3 and rather explain on what are you planning to use the tools instead of explaining how you got the free images and the Carmen Electra dispute to number 3, as you will likely get some oppose votes if you don't. Thanks Jaranda wat's sup 21:43, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Duh! That was supposed to be the answer to question #2! --Abu Badali 04:24, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's ready! You may move it to WP:RFA now. thanks. By the way... is that Ending date for real? --Abu Badali 00:45, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You've got a Thank you card!

So what's the deal? Is what he's saying true? Is he a vandal? Lier? Nutcase? AdamBiswanger1 20:00, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[1] I'll let this guy post on my talk page - It's actually funny reading his long diatribes. WhisperToMe 20:05, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yourcousin used a personal attack when he added back his diatribe to my page. He said "(repasting page deleted by cunt)" - I may block him for evading a block :) WhisperToMe 20:26, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The blocked user rambled on and on. I don't see why it's amusing. If he or she kept it concise and less wordy, it might be. Anomo 22:08, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

205.188.0.0/16, Vandalbot, etc..

Just a request, but is it possible to include a diff in a blocking summary? I only ask because when i hit an AOL block I usually make an effort to look up the history of that IP to find out why the block is there, since obviously non sysops can't see the edit history of an IP range, it leaves users hit by the block some what in the dark, a diff showing the Vandalbot in action would probably soften the blow for people affected by the block, since it would allow them to know why--152.163.100.196 05:17, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it's possible to show an dif in a block summarry. The recent vandalbots are from bad user creation names from the same vandal that are being created by the hundreds every day like User:Johnny Knight Beheaded Jaranda with his Silver Sword, User:HAHA SPAM and many simlar names. Someone needs to call and ban his AOL account as I'm tired of those usernames being created as you can tell by the recent block summarries I did. [2] and a few checkusers proofs that it's from AOL. Jaranda wat's sup 05:24, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Supposedly AOL is planning to finally use XFF headers again, which means it might finally be possible to match an IP with a specific account. Whether or not they actually get around to doing it is another story.--152.163.100.196 05:32, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Impersonators of Jaranda

Crikey, I have no idea what it is that you are doing that is stirring up someone's passions to this extent, but it seems to be working! Keep up the anti-vandal efforts, that's what we all do one way or another. Don't ever feel disheartened by it as they are only anonymous cowards with nothing useful to contribute, entirely the opposite of you. Regards,  (aeropagitica)   (talk)    22:02, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To be frank, I am nto happy about your aggressive stance at RfA/Abu badali. I think you oughtta lay off a bit - all of us wikipedians are opinionated enough, and it's unlikely that anyone will change their vote in response to bullying from the nominator. Respectfully, - CrazyRussian talk/email 02:54, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Vandal Has Decided to QUIT

I am the infamous Johnny Knight, as you may know. Well, I used to make legitimate, albeit minor, anonymous edits for a while using AOL, until I saw the article about myg0t, it made me laugh my socks off. Then, I saw it get deleted and the discussion page got deleted too. Then I thought "I MUST EXACT MY REVENGE!!!" So, I created account after account, realizing how fun it was to troll Wikipedia and antagonize admins like you, SV, Shanel, Pilotguy, DakotaKahn, etc. I actually made very few vandalous edits (<10?) But ended up creating about 500 accounts with crazy usernames. I actually don't support Nazism, but just made those usernames to troll with. I did not use ANY bots, entirely by hand, courtesy of AOL. I created various identities, such as Johnny Knight, SPAM-MAN, Dr. Destructo, admin-attacking names, etc. And I observed the anger and then I thought: this is so fucking fun! I got over 100000 IP addresses blocked (205.188.0.0/16 and 64 something /16) Tonight, I was going outside to take out the trash, when I heard this ghastly moaning sound coming from my backyard. Naturally, I was curious, so I walked over there................and MY WORST FEARS WERE REALIZED, I saw this teenage girl, a complete stranger, giving birth alone to an extremely deformed baby in my backyard. The girl died shortly thereafter from excessive bleeding (hemorrhage). I ran to the house, got my mom and called 911! The girl was pronounced dead at the scene by the 911 people. Anyway, then I thought, maybe I'll troll Wikipedia some more to ease the fears so I could go to bed, but I checked your user talk page, since I had been trolling you and Wikipedia for about a week. I saw I had become a bit [in]famous, but then I read about how AOL might put in the XFF headers, and I thought SHIT HOW WILL I EVER EXPLAIN THIS, and WHAT IF COLLEGES FIND OUT (I'm 15). The same thing once happened to me when I used to vandalize guestbooks (of completely random strangers) months ago and gradually got bored with it. One guy threatened to come after me with "his boys" and I used the alternate identity of "Joe Schmuck". And I thought, WHY THE FUCK AM I DOING THIS???!!! So, I have decided to quit fucking around. I, Johnny Knight, do solemnly swear to stop trolling Wikipedia and Wikipedia admins, so help me GOD, AOL, and MY PARENTS. Could you not call AOL about this, may I repent, for I have done something wrong? 205.188.117.68 04:20, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Average Homeboy

You left a deletion thing on the Average homeboy page. It is a major meme like Numa numa and there was a news story (here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWcsADte1LE&eurl=] so it seems like it should qualify as an article and it doesn't make sense to just cut off all discussion. Mandy Moore

Thanks for your work. This has become a rather annoying FA nom. First a half a month that resulted in not a single vote! Then a renomination which quickly garnered something like 10 supports and no rejects. That should have been promoted within a week of the re-nom, obviously, but wasn't, and then a few people came around with several particularly irriating "object"s. I wonder how Fair Use vigilantes ever get to became Admins. The oppose votes based on "low edit count" is one thing (they have this rule and follow it mostly consistently), but if every one concerned with Wikipedia becoming more "ugly" without "fair use images" gets his vote to count... Anyway I'm liking the process as a whole. Just wanted to know what they call "confrontational" on my behaviour, so that I could avoid that later. --Abu Badali 11:56, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't get some of the oppose votes because you work against copyvios. Rfa is clearly broken. Jaranda wat's sup 19:33, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jranda, let's hook up

Hey, Jaranda...I also live in Miami Florida. Why don't we talk about your opinions in person. I am sure we could have a great discussion. This way, you can personally let me know how you believe a pic of Fidel castro walking on a red carpet is in good taste and needed in the Fidel castro article, yet a pic of him falling is not. Let me know.

Jaranda, where you at? you are quick to suspend accounts, but you have not responded either here, or on the Fidel Talk page. Are you not an Admin.

I could do that, I already replaced the red carpet image with an less insulting one. Thanks Jaranda wat's sup 20:15, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You forgot to block one of Johnny Knight's sockpuppets!

My account with username "4.20.1889" (HITLER'S BIRTHDATE) you forgot to block it! -- signed Johnny Knight 205.188.117.68 01:23, 9 August 2006 (UTC) and by the way, my story above was total bullshit, YHBT!!! I'm not in myg0t or the GNAA either. But I stopped making the fake accounts, the last one was already blocked "Johnny Knight will quit fucking around" or something like that. Will it eventually be off the WP:LTA and other pages, save for the blocklist?[reply]

In July you protected the article I Found a Way after there were numerous deletions over the course of half a year or so (I count 9 deletions). Someone post the article now at I Found a way as a way to get around the article protection apparently. I reduced it to a stub and was wondering your opinion on it. User:Tyrenius (probably correctly) said no to the speedy deletion tag I had put on it saying that it's a much better version than any of the previous versions and suggested a merge or if I really felt strongly about getting rid of it, an AfD. Apparently its the theme song to some TV show, it makes the song notable, so I won't go the route of AfD, but I'm wondering if you would mind lifting your protection to move the article to its proper title/capitalization (and then semi-protect if you think that's appropriate). I have no vested interest in the article, I just wikified it and attempted to move it when I saw the past history. Thanks, Metros232 13:34, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandal

Hey Jaranda, I need to report a vandal who is constantly and repeatedly vandalizing the D-Generation X page. His username is User:RAMistheMAN. So, if you could get him blocked Indef. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Lego FAR

Thank you for closing the Lego FAR. Next time please allow two complete weeks to pass before closing FARs. This has been[discussed before] and the consensus was to leave FARs for two weeks even if it doesn't have a snowball's chance of suceeding. Joelito (talk) 00:57, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
