Film infobox related info

Hello Lugnuts. Could you weigh in on this topic here? I think its relevant to your interests and you seem to be pretty level headed when discussing it. Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Anime_and_manga#Request_for_Comment:_Is_it_relevant_to_list_all_production_companies_or_just_main_animation_studios_in_the_infobox_of_film_articles? Thanks! I'll take a look at it in a bit - thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 19:24, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Short descriptions

Short descriptions have already been unilaterally added to all our articles by the WMF (i.e. they are "mandatory" by WMF fiat), they're just getting automatically pulled from Wikidata so that their existence is invisible to most editors on enwp. For a mess of discussions of the problems with this and the approach taken to mitigate them (i.e. adding {{short description}} to all articles) please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Short descriptions#History (not sure why that section isn't included on WP:SHORTDESC where it belongs). --Xover (talk) 12:58, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Xover: - thanks for the link, but there's a lot of info there. Please can you point to the exact part that states it MUST be added to all articles, including any RfCs, etc. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:02, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I can tell that statement doesn't exist as such anywhere in there, so it's (sadly) a matter of inferring the de facto consequence. I've raised this issue at WP:SHORTDESC because "inferring" a need to mass-change 5M+ articles is not ground sufficiently firm for me to be comfortable standing on. --Xover (talk) 13:11, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, but out of curiosity, what is your objection to having them? Personally I don't see the need for short descriptions to begin with, but given they have been imposed whether we want them or not, I would much prefer to have them here where we can control them than opaquely pulled from a different project with completely different policies and processes and invisible to enwp editors. --Xover (talk) 13:14, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm more concerned that something like this is being done without any real consensus to do so. It seems to be a fringe-project (at best) with about half a dozen active editors! If there was a discussion to do this, then I apologise for missing it. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:18, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The history section here Wikipedia:WikiProject Short descriptions#History has a whole mess of discussions, including two RfCs, so "fringe" it is not. But I very much agree that for something that has the net effect of mandating something be added to all 5M+ articles on enwp, the lack of a RfC with a direct statement to that effect, including the word "must" (or functional equivalent), is at best uncomfortable. I happen to agree that, given the circumstances, this is the best course of action, so I'm not overly concerned with that side of it; but the lack of something "policy(ish)" to point those who disagree to is a problem in and of itself. --Xover (talk) 14:03, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy Final

Recently you redirected the page of 2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy Final, I think final match should be require for every cricket, Can I redirect it?? (Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 07:26, 3 October 2018 (UTC))[reply]

Hi. I think it's a bit of overkill for a tournament with only six matches. For major international tournaments, such as the World Cup or Asia Cup, sure, but not for this. However, if you want to create and expand it, then go for it. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:28, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your approval,I will take care of 2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy Final (Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 07:33, 3 October 2018 (UTC))[reply]

Regarding Abu dhabhi T20, Cricinfo tagged all the matches as other T20, so no T20 debutants in the series. Nainanike (talk) 13:53, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

APL teams

Hello! I was thinking of creating a few articles for the teams in Afghanistan Premier League. Do you think it's too early or should I go on? Thanks, Knightrises10 (talk) 10:25, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Knightrises10: - if you've got some good sources to make a start on them then you'll be fine to create them. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:07, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'll see if I can find some sources :-) However, as the redirects are already there, should I edit them to create the articles? Knightrises10 (talk) 12:02, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, just change the redirects into articles. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:05, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mismatch of text and references

Hi Lugnuts, your last two edits of Laura Stigger resulted in references (currently # 9 & 10; two PDF-files) for youth results used at the end of a sentence talking of junior results. I guess you didn't intend that outcome?! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jo-Jo (talkcontribs) 12:26, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ahh, right. I just removed that line that didn't make much sense. Feel free to re-jigg the order. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:28, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I thought it was a useful sentece. If you consider Remco Evenepoel - there's much talk of his past as a soccer player. Why not talking about Lauras past titles related to her current ones?
By the way ... do you know Wikipedia:WikiProject Women? It got a top story in Austrias biggest TV-Station's website (in german): https://orf.at/stories/3047921/
It's about discrimination. Not so positive for Wikipedia.
I think that your creation of Laura Stigger can be seen as contribution against discrimination.
For me Laura's youth results are not important. But the ones of Remco neither.
I would prefer if you re-jigg the order. Because I don't understand what you meant, when writing this.
If you don't, I will put that sentence back in the article.
However, I'll have a bike ride now.
:-)
--Jo-Jo (talk) 12:45, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Jo-Jo. I've done a bit more copy-editing. I focused on creating bios for most of the missing female cyclists at the recent UCI world champs, including this one. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:56, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,Lugnuts Sorry, I will not change the name of the West Indies cricket team as this has been discussed at the Cricket Project before, and on WP it is the West Indies, not the Windes, but West Indies cricket team’s official name changed to WINDIES. The term 'Windies' has been use for a long time as a colloquial reference to the cricket teams that represent the Carribean Islands but it will now be the official name of the side.[1]

A previous discussion. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:16, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WT20Is

Since all the scorecards of women T20I between 463 to 487 are available in Cricinfo that include both African and south American women series... can we add in international calander of 2018...::

Source- http://www.stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/records/team/match_results.html?class=10;id=2018;type=year Nainanike (talk) 13:57, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No, per WP:CRIC#STYLE. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:58, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

But they are international matches why ? Nainanike (talk) 14:01, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Read WP:CRIC#STYLE. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:02, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lots of women cricketer made their T20I debut... so will their wiki profile be created? Nainanike (talk) 14:03, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No, as they fail WP:NCRIC. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:04, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

But during women Asia cup 2018 in June, Thailand women cricketer page were created... is there any problem with African and American. Since all matches are International Nainanike (talk) 14:06, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Read WP:NCRIC. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:07, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

And per WP:NCRIC they all have played atleast one T20 international so they should be included Nainanike (talk) 14:08, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Read a bit further down... Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:09, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have read point number 4 that says Have appeared as a player for an Associate team in a Twenty20 International match after 1 July 2018 in either a World T20 (men or women), Global Qualifier (men or women) or Regional Final (men only)

So all women matches have played after 1 July 2018, then what’s the issue to include Nainanike (talk) 14:09, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

FFS, it's not that hard - here's the bit you are stuggling with - "in either a World T20 (men or women), Global Qualifier (men or women) or Regional Final (men only)". No stop bothering me. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:10, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Umaima and Omaima Sohail

Looks like both are same person as per ICC and cricbuzz and other sources. However, ESPN Cricinfo have two different profiles for each name (though details are ditto for both). Please redirect page to other name when you create wiki profile Nainanike (talk) 04:29, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, no need to redirect now as Cricinfo has corrected it Nainanike (talk) 04:53, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Finals Matches

Hello,Recently you redirect the articles 2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy Final & 2018–19 Afghanistan Premier League Final but these are not stand alone articles,i will update this articles fully, this is my responsibility. So what you think sir?? Is there any idea or suggestion that you want to give me regarding this(Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 12:43, 9 October 2018 (UTC))[reply]

Hi. Take a look at the post on your talkpage from yesterday. I raised this at the cricket project, and there was a consensus not to create these type of articles for domestic finals and low-end T20 tournaments. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:46, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Okay will not create next time Low Levels Tournaments Finals,So i will focus the higher level tournament. You can give me any work regarding cricket projects, Thanks (Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 12:53, 9 October 2018 (UTC))[reply]

HCA seasons

Hi. I created season pages for Hyderabad cricket team over the last two months which extended all the way back to 2000–01 Hyderabad C.A. season. But for 2000-01 season and for 2001–02 Hyderabad C.A. season, I didn't get scorecards for the Ranji ODI Trophy matches they played during those seasons. As you can see inn the cricket match box, I placed info based on the reports I found out on ESPN Cricinfo. I would like to know if I can find those scorecards on cricketarchive and if yes, can you just place those links and also update those match boxes for just those two seasons in the above mentioned wiki pages. I don't have cricket archive subscription. If you can provide me another website which is free and have chance of finding the above info, it will be even more helpful. Thanks in advance. Sagavaj (talk) 06:18, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sagavaj - is this any use? Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 06:46, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I got the reports from archives itself but it doesn't have any scorecards. Sagavaj (talk) 12:39, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh, right. Other than the paywalled Cric Archive, I don't have any other suggestions. Sorry. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:40, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

New Zealand A in UAE

Hey, I recently created the page of New Zealand A cricket team tour to the UAE. As I don't get much time on wiki, the article got deleted. Right now I have proper citations and references for the article. So now can I re-create the article? Thanks in Advance. Aditya tamhankar (talk) 17:32, 10 October 2018 (IST)

Hi. Most A tours and U19 tours don't meet the notability requirements, so it will probably be deleted again. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:04, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly I agree with that but this and this articles were not deleted. Aditya tamhankar (talk) 11:58, 11 October 2018 (IST)

Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy

Hello. The matches involving Lahore Qalandars and Titans were reclassified by ESPNCricinfo as official T20 matches. So some of the players made their T20 debut in those matches. Please make the changes in their articles. Human (talk) 15:28, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Leave it with me, I'll take a look. I wish whoever classes these matches would make their minds up! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:10, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. Cricket South Africa has announced a new league here [2]. I am not sure if this is a new tournament or if it's a replacement for T20 Global League. Can you please look into this matter? Human (talk) 13:53, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. It's a bit of both. I'll look at it later, but with the fate of the Global League, it might be worth just hanging on a bit, incase this goes south too! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:04, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Wilhelm Krüger has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

It appears that this is a fake article, because that person never existed : he was confused with Friedrich-Wilhelm Krüger at the time of his creation. It has just been deleted from French Wikipedia where it had been copied from English Wikipedia. Please see that discussion page : [3]. Best regards. Gkml

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
