Charles Barugahare (born September 13, 1972) is a Ugandan Financial Consultant and a farmer.[1] He is the former University Secretary of Makerere University, Oldest University in Uganda. Currently, he is the Director of Retirement Life Hub[2] that is knowned for the 30-day Personal Finance Improvement Challenge.[3] He also serves as a board member of Kiira Motors Corporation,[4] a state enterprise aimed at commercialising the Kiira Electric Vehicle Project.[5]

Education

Charles Barugahare went to Makerere University where he pursued Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and later Eastern & Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI) for Master of Business Administration before joining Atlantic International University for his Doctor of Business Administration.[6]

Professional career

Charles Barugahare has served in different organisations like Care International in Uganda, The Aids Support Organisation (TASO) and Makerere University where he served as the University Secretary,[7][8] Accounting Officer of the university,[9] Custodian of the University Seal, and Administrator of University Assets where he was replaced by Mr. Yusuf Kiranda.[10]

For the dedicated service and contribution to Makerere University and the country, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda awarded Charles Barugahare a Golden Jubilee Medal on 1 May 2018.[11]

The 30-Day Personal Finance Improvement Challenge

Under the Finance Literacy Improvement Program,[12] Charles led the team in developing the 30-Day Personal Finance Improvement Challenge[13][14] that is packaged in both the book[15] and in form of an online Course[16] that has detailed examples. The Book was reviewed by Owek. Robert Wagwa Nsibirwa, the Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer of Buganda Kingdom.

The book was launched at the 99th District Conference of Rotary that took place from 24 April 2024 to 27th April 2024 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.[17][18]
