Billboard 200 not 100
Just to let someone know that it is written on the page that her album debuted number one on the billboard 100 when it debuted number one on billboard 200. 100 is for the singles!77.99.40.67 (talk) 22:18, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
Would of
Please would somebody correct "would of" to say "would have", which occurs more than once. It makes the article look poorly written with such obvious mistakes. 89.0.64.62 (talk) 21:10, 24 September 2010 (UTC) Thanks. 89.0.151.233 (talk) 12:38, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
GED test
The article states that Perry passed her GED test right after freshman year of high school. This is not possible; in order to take the GED test, you must be 17 1/2 or 18 years old already when you enroll for it. After ninth grade, she must have been only 14 or 15 years old (she is also born later in the year, in late October). Perhaps it can be clarified? Maybe she took it later, after leaving the school. Like her, I left high school at 15, after my first year, and that has only been a couple years (I'm considerably younger than Perry). I was told by numerous sources GED tests aren't available until you're at least 17 and some months. ★Dasani★ 02:34, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- It varies from state to state, and most states that have age limits also have waivers.—Kww(talk) 03:20, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Dasani, you are so wrong. In my state you can take it at age 16.--99.177.250.140 (talk) 00:20, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- Perhaps Katy Perry is a genius and was allowed to take the GED test early? 99.231.241.146 (talk) 07:52, 1 October 2010 (UTC)me
- As a person who has done the same thing Katy Perry has done in the state of California (I was 15), I can tell you that she took the CHSPE [California High School Proficiency Exam {NOT THE SAME AS THE CAHSEE}], which is the California State equivalent of a GED for minors only. Please adjust the article for accuracy. Thanks and Cheers!SnowOptix (talk) 17:29, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Katy Perry's DOB
Katy Perry's real name is Katy Hudson and is the daughter of Keith and Mary Hudson, Founders of the Keith Hudson Ministries in Oceanside CA.
According to this page on their site, Mary Hudson names her kids and their ages. Their daughter "Katy" is listed as 27 years of age...and who knows when the last time this page was updated?

Could it be her year of birth is really 1982 instead of 84? Or earlier? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.171.183.162 (talk) 10:51, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- We generally prefer independent sources over related sources. In this case, Blender says she was 19 as of 9/15/04,[1] so that supports a 1984 or 1985 birth year. It's the birthday that's not overly clear from any of the sources in the early life paragraph. —C.Fred (talk) 14:10, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- She celebrated her 25th birthday on October 24 last year. This Daily Mail story features a photo caption which reads: "The morning after the night before: Katy and Russell spend her birthday at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills". Cliff smith talk 16:34, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- The California Birth Index shows she was born on 25 Oct 84. Jim Michael (talk) 09:07, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
Katy Perry and Tokio Hotel
Should the small arguments going on between Katy and Tokio Hotel be added to the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.211.132.197 (talk) 17:25, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Dual nationality
Katy Perry announced her intentions to become a dual citizen of the US & the UK after her marriage to Russel Brand:

Pop rock DOES NOT = Pop and Rock, pop rock is a subgerne of pop! in no way is katy perry rock, just bcause someone sings pop rock doesnt not make them a rock musician, because katy perry IS NOT ROCK —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.139.117.90 (talk) 18:10, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- Wrong! Rock is whatever we want it to be. Rappers routinely talking about "rocking out" with their "cocks out". 99.231.241.146 (talk) 07:55, 1 October 2010 (UTC)me

Frequent references to only listening to gospel
I think that the phrase "Katy was only allowed to listen to gospel music growing up, not what her mother called 'secular music'" should be reworded. It is secular music if it is not religious. Her mother did not invent the term. I also think that this article makes too big a deal out of the fact that she only listened to gospel music, which removes some NPOV (i.e. that Gospel music is bad) Also, nothing in the first introductory statement is referenced. 75.69.129.253 (talk) 18:54, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
Spelling error in the MTV Unplugged section
In the paragraph that starts "During the summer of 2009 Perry filmed a cameo appearance for Get Him to the Greek." They talk about a kiss being cut with her future FINANCE which I think should be "Fiancé"

Music Academy of the West
This is the quote in the article:
She enrolled in at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, and studied Italian opera for a short time.[16]
Are you sure about this? That strikes me as a very odd little factoid, I've seen it backed nowhere else, the Academy doesn't list her under notable alumni, and the only reference to it is a dead link. Can someone check this and/or replace the link? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.54.19.192 (talk) 23:24, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Full name
The official press release informing the public and media of their marriage states,"[Russell and Katy] were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Brand on Saturday, October 23." Does that mean her full name at the beginning of this article should be changed from Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson to Katheryn Elizabeth Brand? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.161.227.45 (talk) 01:11, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

- And how do we know she isn't keeping her maiden name as a middle name? —C.Fred (talk) 21:14, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Record sales
I think it should be mentioned that she has sold over 22 million singles with her first album as mentioned on her official website: http://www.katyperry.com/katy-perry-says-%E2%80%98summer-starts-now%E2%80%99/ and also the over 5 million copies of her major label debut album bringing her total worldwide record sales to 27 million before the release of her second album and singles. I will try find out how many singles her second album has sold and adjust the total.219.89.129.156 (talk) 08:52, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Dont know if this makes a difference but I added up all the certifications of her second albums singles and got a total of 4,264,500 including the first two weeks of the Teenage Dream (single) US sales as it was not certified their. Bringing her total worldwide record sales to 31,264,500 to date excluding the album Teenage Dream.219.89.129.156 (talk) 09:19, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Incorrect date
"On October 23rd 2010, Perry was married to Comedian Russell Brand.Brand, 35, proposed to Perry, 25, in India outside the Taj Mahal, December 2010." Obviously they meant December 2009, since December 2010 has yet to occur. Laelene (talk) 18:13, 26 October 2010 (UTC)laelene
Use of British English
Am I the only one to find it weird that suddenly there is some random British English in use for a couple of sentences? I can understand calling Russell's mom "mum" since he hails from Britain, but many Americans probably have no idea that a "hen party" is a bachelorette party. And seeing as Katy is American, it makes sense to keep the English usage consistent (organized, bachelorette party, maid of honor):
"...there was one noticeable absence, pop star Rihanna, who organised the hen party, and was tipped to be Katy's maid of honour..." Laelene (talk) 18:23, 26 October 2010 (UTC)laelene
- This whole article should be in US English; Brand's article should be in UK English. Jim Michael (talk) 10:10, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

{{subst:Edit semi-protected}} Katy Perry has dedicated her new music video, firework to the It gets better project, showing an activism in gay rights. She also said it was her favorite track on her album, Teenage Dream, because it has a great beat and a great message.
Not done: this would be better directed to the articles on the song or the album. Also, a reliable source is needed for verification. Yves (talk) 05:59, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984),[1] better known by the stage name Katy Perry, is an gay male American singer-songwriter, musician and actress.

Russell Brand
A paragraph about her marriage is at the end of the 2010 subsection of the Career section. That info should be under personal life. I'm not sure what is relevant enough to move there, and what should be deleted.
