Surnames

Where have some of these surnames come from? I know Hyacinth and Richard's, Elizabeth and Emmet's surnames were revealed during the show but when were Onslow and Daisy ever called the Smiths? And Rose Morrell? And also the surnames of Voilet, the vicar and the Major? I suspect someone has made them up as I have never heard them called that on the show.
