Pokémon: The Origin, partly known in Japan as Pocket Monsters: The Origin (ポケットモンスター The Origin, Poketto Monsutā The Origin), is a television special separate from the existing Pokémon anime, and is based on the original games featuring the game's original characters such as Red, Green, Oak, Brock and Team Rocket. The anime will debut as a special on TV Tokyo on October 2, 2013.[1]

Characters

Unlike the original Pokémon anime, the special will not feature original characters but instead feature the original cast from the games.[2]

  • Red: The main protagonist of the original games who is a Pokémon trainer
  • Green: Red's main rival who is also a Pokémon trainer
  • Professor Oak (Yukinari Okido-hakase): Professor Oak is the world's foremost authority on Pokémon. When Trainers such as Red and Green begin their Pokémon Journey, Professor Oak gives them their starting Pokémon - Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle When he is not looking after all the Pokémon that Trainers do not have with them at the time - (each trainer may carry up to six on his or her person) - he is studying them and upgrading the Pokédex.
  • Brock (Takeshi): The Pokémon Gym Leader in Pewter City.
  • Giovanni (Sakaki): Giovanni is the boss of Team Rocket, a sinister crime syndicate
