Unlike the Perth suburban train services, the bus services in Perth are operated by three companies, Path Transit, Swan Transit and Southern Coast Transit, which are contracted with the [[Public Transport Authority (Western Australia)|Public Transport Authority]], [[Government of Western Australia]], under the [[Transperth]] brand name. This arrangement has been in place since 1996.


The average Perth bus route operates every 15 to 60 minutes on weekdays with more frequent services offered during peak times. Services generally finish after 12 am, though many routes finish in the 6-11 pm time frame. Weekend services are approximately half weekday levels.
