Mark Waid is an American comic book writer.

His best known work is Kingdom Come (with Alex Ross), a story set in the future of the DC Universe and depicting the fate of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and other heroes. It was written in reaction to the "dark and gritty" comics of the 1980s and 1990s.

Recently, he released a series named Empire (with Barry Kitson), a series whose protagonist was a Doctor Doom-like supervillain who had conquered the world.
