Is this article really all here?

It seems to be terribly lacking in context and completeness and does not flow well. Could an expert please have a look and try to rescue it a bit? I am not sure that it is a viable article in its present form. And what is the La Rochelle link? It is not explained at all here. Someone tried to link it from there and I am sorry to say I undid it as there is, currently, no point. Best to all DBaK (talk) 18:41, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Added section from the French page

The French version of this page has much more detail, so I've added a (pretty rough) translation of the historical background, including some of the French-language citations. It's not ideal, but it's something. Feel free to revert if thought necessary. Telemachus12389 (talk) 17:37, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! It's getting so much better. Cheers DBaK (talk) 19:44, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
