Definition of IOPS

[edit]

At the start of the article there is a lot of discussion of "IOPS" without ever defining it. Perhaps the equation iops * transfer_size = byte_transfer_rate is a definition, but it doesn't show up early enough. Also, it is not elevated to the status of a definition. In addition, I can't find a definition of input/output operation. Input/output has it's own page, but that is very general. It would be useful to have a discussion about how manufacturer's measure IOPS. Grantacameron (talk) 22:29, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

IOPS for SSD drives

[edit]

I removed a lot of meaningless manufacturer-sourced claims of drives having "up to" sensational speeds in the SSD table (presumably in some special conditions not experienced in real life use). What this article needs is a neutral tally not promoting manufacturers, like the table for mechanical drives. IvicaInsomniac (talk) 19:22, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
