    Editing an entry written by another person

    Is there a protocol for this? How do I know who the original author is? How do I contact them to discuss the changes I would like to make? Unimech (talk) 03:33, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Hello @Unimech, and Welcome to Wikipedia!
    You are allowed to edit any article, even if you didn't write it, and you don't need to ask for permission. You can learn more at Help:Editing.
    If you have any further questions, feel free to reply, ask on my talk page or check the frequently asked question page at Wikipedia:FAQ.
    Hope you are well, echidnaLives - talk - edits 03:38, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Thank you very much, I'm new to this. Unimech (talk) 04:16, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    @Unimech, You can find out the original author of the page by using the Page history. You can contact any user on their Talk page. Although you don't need to ask permission to edit, there are times when it's best to discuss changes with other editors interested in a page in order to build consensus. Such discussions should take place on the talk page of the effected article. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 04:14, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Thank you very much, I'm new to this. Unimech (talk) 04:17, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    @Unimech To sort of drive home the point of how things work when editing an article that someone else wrote: When you do go to an article's History page to see who wrote it, typically, you'll have to go through a long edit history--often many pages long. That's a reverse chronological list of everybody who ever made a change to the article--be that major rewrites or fixing a comma. The oldest entry is the person who first wrote the article. All the later contributors made changes to the article; they might have discussed it either with previous contributors or on the article's talk page--far more likely, they did not. When you get to the first author, you can click on the date to see the article as it was in the beginning. Very often, it's completely different from the current version; it's quite likely that whatever you want to change was written by someone other than the original author.
    "It is written" (somewhere--yes, I've read it) that if one can't bear to see one's Wikipedia contributions edited beyond recognition, one probably shouldn't contribute to Wikipedia. If you do think your proposed edit should be discussed, you can research who wrote whatever you want to change (I've done that; it can be a substantial project) and contact that person, or--usually a better idea--discuss it on the talk page. That's what I do when I think something might be contentious or I think a change should be made, but don't feel qualified to do it.
    If you now feel you can just go ahead and make the change, just go ahead. Don't neglect to add an edit summary; if the edit is substantial, try to be fairly specific (while still being concise) in the summary. If someone has a problem with it, someone will probably change it back. In that case, see "It is written" above; then it's highly recommended that you take it up on the talk page, rather than re-reverting.
    That's how Wikipedia works; we all just keep going in and (we hope) improving things. Uporządnicki (talk) 13:31, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Contributing to Wikipedia

    Dear Sir or Madam, A notice came up asking for donations towards wikipedia. Is there bank details where I can walk into a bank and just credit £2 as and when I like? This is much easier than using a card for me. Also it retains my id. 2A02:C7E:3922:6F00:D976:56B:19C9:A493 (talk) 05:52, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Hello, IP editor. The Wikimedia Foundation handles the fundraising, and the English language Wikipedia has nothing to do with it. To be honest, they have massive cash reserves, and small donations like you are describing are not really needed. My suggestion is to buy a meal or a drink for yourself instead. Cullen328 (talk) 06:01, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Would it be appropriate for me to create a wikipedia page dedicated to useful links to Turkish botany, covering web pages, forums, PDFs, books etc (books would provide a google search for the ISBN). The advantage of being on wikipedia would be that it is long-lasting and others could jointly add things, and the Flora of Turkey webpage could usefully provide a link to it. Cheers, David Meteorquake (talk) 07:06, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    @Meteorquake Per WP:EL, you shouldn't create an article for that. If you think such a page would be helpful to you in your WP-editing, you can put it in your userspace. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:00, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    You might want to look at some of these for an idea of what that type of article would look like: Category:Bibliographies by subject, as well as the guidelines in WP:BIB#Topical bibliographies. Umimmak (talk) 14:30, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    @Meteorquake Indeed, you could add to Bibliography_of_biology#Botany which is a bit sparse at present. I assume you could provide sources in addition to those relevant to Turkey. Mike Turnbull (talk) 14:41, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    The "Bibliography by Subject" example represents the kind of approach I'm thinking of, similar to "Films Set in France" sort of pages of which there are numerous on Wikipedia.
    In today's e-world as well as high-quality print books there are also many high-quality static reference PDFs created by experts (e.g. "The Oaks of Turkey", an 87 page PDF) and also dynamic sites (think of a plant list with plant maps which you enter a plant name).
    It would need to be dedicated to the botany of Turkey rather than wider but could include wider links relevant to it, for the simple reason the number of links for a wider region would be far more than is appropriate for a single page, and secondly people do focus on a particular country in their botany for very many reasons.
    I'm not sure who came up with the idea of a section for botany in "Bibliographies by subject", as I don't think that would be workable for botany, it would have too many entries.
    I'm not convinced a user page would be the best approach as it needs to feel owned by all and have the ability for others to make additions (I've not made a user page before but I suspect that might be harder).
    Look forward to your further comments on this as, it would need to be something system moderators are happy with. I certainly think it's a good idea and the examples provided in the comments suggest it has precedent.
    David Meteorquake (talk) 15:20, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    @Meteorquake: It might be worth asking in the talk pages for Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Bibliographies, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Plants, and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Turkey for specific guidance. It would be helpful for your article if you could find sources that show "List of sources about Turkish botany" is itself a notable topic: For a bibliography on a topic to be notable, the members of that bibliography should be discussed as a group in reliable sources. This discussion may take the form of a published standalone bibliography on the topic, a bibliography in a published reliable source on the topic or recommendations for further reading on the topic published in a reliable source on the topic. So if I were you I'd try to find other sources which have themselves discuss sources on Turkish botany. I would also consider "Bibliography of Anatolian plants"; it might be that botanical sources consider peninsulas moreso than national borders. Umimmak (talk) 15:23, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Editing Issue

    Hi my boss is Zain Verjee and ive been trying to update her Wiki page with her wanted changes but the whole page keeps reverting to an older version and now im locked out from being able to edit the page - I've never edited a wiki page before so clearly I did it wrong but I dont know what to do now. Julaiwig (talk) 15:43, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Julaiwig Please see the information on your user talk page, and review the policies described, including WP:PAID(declaring paid editing is a Terms of Use requirement). I would note it is not "her wiki page", but a Wikipedia article about your boss. She has no special rights to it as the subject, though her input is welcome. You already seem to be aware of how to make an edit request; that is how you should propose changes you or your boss feel are needed. 331dot (talk) 15:49, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    The article Zain Verjee is already too fluffy, and smells like it's repeatedly been edited by people connected to the subject. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:54, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Oh okay so if I make an edit request with all the changes thats fine and then someone can update it? The current page is just super outdated thats why I was trying to update. Julaiwig (talk) 16:06, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Yes you can, but the editor who responds to your request will not necessarily implement it exactly as you requested. If they feel that the changes you are asking for are promotional, are slanted to remove well-referenced negative information, or are not backed up by reliable independent sources, they may decide not to implement them, or to implement them very differently. You can make it more likely that your request will be accepted by:
    1. Making individual, very precise edit requests: "Please add X after Y", "Please remove X", "Please replace X with Y".
    2. Making sure that any information you ask to be included is cited to a published source: preferably a source unconnected with your boss, but for certain kinds of information non-independent sources are acceptable.
    3. Remembering that the article is Wikipedia's, not your boss's, and what she wants it to say is not necessarily relevant.
    ColinFine (talk) 16:26, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Okay sounds good, I just submitted an edit request Julaiwig (talk) 16:32, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    @Julaiwig, there is a 99% chance that the request you've submitted will sit in the queue for weeks before being closed as not accepted. It is very long and has no inline citations, only a bunch of (mostly unhelpful) inline external links and a long list of (also mostly unhelpful) external links at the end. If you and your boss would like to get things done more quickly and efficiently, I'd recommend following ColinFine's advice above. (I see that ONUnicorn has given very similar advice on the talk page) 199.208.172.35 (talk) 16:59, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    What template should I use.

    When looking through the new users page, I found the article Southern Regional College had been recently edited by the user User:Wrightj797, and it seemed to be from the colleges point of view. As they did remove vandalism, I believe this to be in good faith, but I'm not sure what to do about it. What template should I use, and how should I notify the user?

    I ask this as I am trying to learn more about how to use Wikipedia, including editing and creating an inclusive space for newcomers. (Some might consider me a newcomer, but I'm always trying to learn)

    Alpha2 5232 (talk) 16:09, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Thank you for drawing our attention to this, Alpha2. I have reverted the edit, except for the bit that was reverting vandalism; and I have put a message on the user's talk page explaining. I didn't use a template, but wrote a personal message. ColinFine (talk) 16:46, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    don't know who else to ask...

    Hello, for some years ago I added several entries to Wikipedia, since then I have only very occasionally done anything at all. But today I see that I no longer have an account, which surprises me. It also annoys me be cause in the last couple of years I've donated to Wikipedia. So is there anyone I can contact to resolve this issue? Thank you for your help. Bob em (talk) 16:29, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Bob em You say you don't have an account, but you are using it right now. Did you have a previous account? The account you are using has a small number of edits, though most are not recent. If there are specific articles you are referencing, it would help to know their titles.
    Please understand that we editors have nothing to do with donations or the donation process- donations are collected by the Wikimedia Foundation that primarily operates the computers Wikipedia is on, and is not involved in day to day operations. Donations or lack of donating has no impact on editing or discussions. 331dot (talk) 16:33, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    @Bob em: You can see the record of all the edits you've made since 27 April 2006 at Special:Contributions/Bob_em. Bazza (talk) 16:40, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    The page User:Bob em says "Wikipedia does not have a user page with this exact title". Some users think that means the account doesn't exist or isn't working but it just means the user has not created a user page for the account. Doing so is completely optional and the account works fine without it. Was that it? The message would be different if the account didn't actually exist, e.g. User:No user by this name. I've been trying to get link colours I can comfortably read in the new Vector, but my CSS skills are almost nonexistent. So far I have

    a:link {color: #3162C4;}

    a:visited {color: #24478F;}

    a:new {color: #CD0000;}

    This does not display disambiguation pages in orange, nor nonexisting pages in red until after I've visited them.

    Anybody knows how to fix this? Many thanks :). —Femke 🐦 (talk) 18:02, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    You can get disambiguation pages to display in orange using the setting in the Appearance section of Gadgets in your Preferences. Bazza (talk) 18:39, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    It seems that changing my CSS overrides that setting. —Femke 🐦 (talk) 19:00, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    (edit conflict) @Femke: You have not set any class names for the links. Class names are .classname. Pseudo-classes (such as "visited" or "active") are set using :pseudoclass.
    • a is used to select links to existing unvisited pages.
    • a:visited is used to select links to existing visited pages.
    • a.new is used to select links to non-existing pages (red links).
    • a.mw-disambig is used to select disambiguation links.
    So try the following:
    • a { color: blue;}
    • a:visited { color: lightblue;}
    • a.new { color: red;}
    • a.mw-disambig { color: orange;}
    If they're close to what you want, you can tweak the colour names or use hex codes.
    If you're up for learning more, try MDN Web Docs or w3schools. Bazza (talk) 19:35, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    None of those appear to be a hex code for any shade of orange, and I'm not aware of a :new pseudoclass. a:link already describes links that haven't been visited yet. If you're still editing your personal CSS, you can try editing the class mw-disambig instead. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 19:19, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    I have no idea what new means either, it was suggested at a solution for redlinks not showing up at the Vector RfC.
    I've added a:mw-disambig {color: #f17600;} in my CSS, but that doesn't work either (I had hoped that the setting in Gadgets would still work). —Femke 🐦 (talk) 19:35, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    That works! Thanks Bazza!

    How to prevent continuous vandalism

    Hello, I have a problem with a user that continuously adds unrelated information on a page and to make it legit adds a reference. However, when you check the reference(s) name of the person is never mentioned it. I told him several times about this, but still, the use insists. I wonder what would be the next step. Should I mention the problem on the "notice board"? Erfan2017 (talk) 01:12, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Hello, Erfan2017. On Wikipedia, vandalism has a very specific and narrow definition, which is editing (or other behavior) deliberately intended to obstruct or defeat the project's purpose, which is to create a free encyclopedia, in a variety of languages, presenting the sum of all human knowledge. The edits you object to do not meet that definition of vandalism. There are several forms of dispute resolution available to you. Please use them and please be careful to avoid using the word "vandalism" unless it is indisputably accurate. Cullen328 (talk) 05:19, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    @Mhloverbae64 Since you have only made four edits, three of which were WP:Reverted, I suggest you just abandon the account and not worry about it. No-one can trace the additions you made to your real-life identity. Accounts are not deleted because Wikipedia needs to know for copyright reasons which account was responsible for each edit made. How do I add this History to Wikipedia

    A life-long native of Memphis, Tennessee Shelandra Ford was elected in August 2018 after competing in the Primary and General elections in Shelby County. Ford made History as she was elected as the first elected African American and first female elected to the position of Shelby County Register of Deeds. 167.29.0.4 (talk) 14:36, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    The county register of deeds, even of a major urban county such as Shelby (I'm from Chester County myself) is simply not notable enough to call for an article about them. Those people in Wikipedia who are or have been registers of deeds are in here because they also achieved something notable, such as membership in the state or federal legislature, etc. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:29, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Also: I'm wondering whether it is possible that an African-American may have been elected to that office during the Reconstruction era, only to have the information forgotten or almost suppressed, in the period when the white power structure regained control in Shelby County? --Orange Mike | Talk 15:32, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    This is also discussed at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#{{Finland-musician-stub}} shows image as broken for me despite the image file invoked in the template being fine. It's likely that nobody is actually seeing the 40px image in {{Finland-musician-stub}} but some users see the original unscaled image which is automatically offered by MediaWiki as an alternative size in this case. The underlying problem may be that File:MusicalnotesFinland.png contains invalid or incompatible code so MediaWiki cannot scale it to other sizes. Footnotes & Summary Box on right

    I am a volunteer administrator for a friend, which includes updating his Wikipedia page. I am having a problem with footnotes: Wikipedia will not allow me to insert the URLs he has given me ... it either inserts inappropriate URLs or only allows his title and no URL. I also am unable to input (or locate) appropriate titles (incombent) for the Summary Box in upper right corner.

    I have the footnotes and summary box typed on one sheet - can I email the sheet to you for guidance?

    Thank you, Susannah Susan5615 (talk) 20:45, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

     Courtesy link: J. Michael Diaz - 199.208.172.35 (talk) 21:13, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Hello, Susannah. It sounds as if you and your friend have a (very common) misunderstanding about Wikipedia. The article about your friend is not in any way at all "his page", it is Wikipedia's article about him, and it is neither owned nor controlled by him.
    If you are a volunteer, then you probably do not count as a paid editor, for whom it is mandatory to make a formal declaration; but you certainly have a conflict of interest, and you would be well advised to declare this on your user page, and to avoid editing J. Michael Diaz directly. What you should do rather is to make edit requests on the article's talk page (see that link for details).
    Please remember that Wikipedia is not interested in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources. Not much of the text is sourced, which is not acceptable in a biography of a living person; but if it can't be cited to sources unconnected with Diaz, then most of it should not be in the article. That is wehy several of your edits have been reverted.
    The problem was you've had with references seems to be that in your last edit you put both the title and the URL in the |url= field, which of course the software isn't happy with. ColinFine (talk) 22:04, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Identification of Death in Wikipedia articles

    I was reading a Wikipedia article that includes a list of people, some of whom are deceased. For deceased persons, the author included a "death dagger" immediately following the name. This seemed confusing to me because the symbol "looks" almost identical to a textual "t".

    For that reason, I felt the "death dagger" should somehow be clearly distinguishable from a "t".

    My 1st thought was to edit those "death daggers" to appear higher (as Superscript), but I don't know whether that CAN be done in Wikipedia or - if it can - HOW to do it. If a superscripted "death dagger" can't be done, is there another method of more clearly identifying that a person is deceased?

    Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pdalton (talkcontribs) 21:00, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    @Pdalton: Please always link pages you refer to. I can guess from your contributions that it's United States Wrestling Association. It uses the dagger character U+2020 which renders as †, e.g. in Ronnie P. Gossett†. It doesn't look much like the letter t to me but the rendering of characters depends on your software. {{dagger}} uses an image instead, e.g. in Ronnie P. Gossett†. Is that better on your device? For me it's even more clear it's not a t. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:45, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    User:Jimbo Wales' talk page

    Does User:Jimbo Wales respond to requests made on his talk page? Or are the other users the only ones that do it for him? I found one of his administrative actions from 16 years ago that I would like him to reverse. StellarHalo (talk) 22:38, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Hi, StellarHalo, have you tried to check Jimbo's contributions list at Special:Contributions/Jimbo_Wales? --CiaPan (talk) 22:54, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    I just did and it seems that Jimbo has not been on this site very often let alone his own talk page. Does this mean I cannot count on a response from him if I make a request? StellarHalo (talk) 01:49, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    It seems like you'd find out much faster simply by asking Jimbo, rather than asking us if he responds quickly. Why are you wasting time with this? --Golbez (talk) 02:22, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Well I thought that I would have more chance of success if I keep the request strictly between me and Jimbo. But you are right. I should not be hesitating. StellarHalo (talk) 02:25, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    As an admin, will you be answering my unban request if I post it on Jimbo's talk page? StellarHalo (talk) 03:06, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Didn't you say something about not hesitating? --Golbez (talk) 03:51, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Jimbo Wales has never been a particularly active editor. He only has about 15,000 edits in total across all Wikimedia projects, and roughly half of those are to User talk:Jimbo Wales. His editing frequency peaked in 2011 with 2086 edits and has been declining steadily ever since, with only 69 edits in 2022, and none in October. For what it's worth, I have made six times more edits in 13 years as Jimbo has made in 22 years. Cullen328 (talk) 04:15, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    @StellarHalo: User_talk:Jimbo_Wales has over 4000 watchers. Posting there is not a private conversation "strictly between me and Jimbo". This account you are using is clearly not banned. f you have another account that is banned, stop using this one and post your request on that account's talk page. Watchlist issue

    When I warn an editor using Twinkle, that automatically puts the editor on my watchlist. If the editor's account is new to en.wiki, it also shows the account creation on my watchlist. In the case of Valentin51000, I am seeing the entry for my warning at 11:56 today, but I am not seeing the account creation at 11:47. Anyone know why?--Bbb23 (talk) 12:10, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    I think it is because the account was originally created on frwiki, thus the log entry reading created automatically. ■ ∃ Madeline ⇔ ∃ Part of me ; 12:20, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    And note also Special:CentralAuth/Valentin51000 which may be of interest. Mike Turnbull (talk) 12:23, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    So, what you're both saying is that if an account was created earlier on another wiki, it won't show up when it's "created" here. I don't know if the terminology has anything to do with it, but I suppose it was created on fr.wiki but registered here, so no log entry on my watchlist. Just trying to piece this together. I'm sure all this makes total sense to some people, but not much to me. And this isn't purely an academic nit. If I could track an editor's contributions, life would be easier when it comes to monitoring newbie vandals.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:45, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    My testing indicates the same. Automatic (originally created at another wiki) and non-automatic user creations are both registered in the page log and look similar, e.g. [2] and [3]. I don't know why the automatic user creations are omitted in the watchlist. I haven't found a Phabricator report about it. PrimeHunter (talk) 14:03, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Image with non-free use rationale that is actually in the public domain

    The image File:Valéry Inkijinoff.jpg has a non-free use rationale. But an identical copy is on Wikimedia Commons, where a procedural deletion request suggests that the file is in the public domain. If this is indeed the case, then the following actions should be taken:

    1. Restore the original, higher resolution version of this image and transfer it to Commons.
    2. Delete the Wikipedia copy.

    Brianjd (talk) 12:54, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    If the Commons file is ultimately kept, then there's no reason to do anything with the local Wikipedia file except to remove it from the article and let it be deleted per WP:F5. The two files have different names and a higher quality version of the image can be uploaded as an updated version of the already existing Commons file. If the Commons file is kept, just replace the current file syntax in Valéry Inkijinoff with the syntax of the Commons file. This will orphan the local non-free file, which means it will end up deleted after seven days have passed since becoming an orphan. If you don't want to wait that long, you can tag the file for speedy deletion per WP:F7 by adding the template {{rnfu}} to its page or for speedy deletion per WP:F8 by adding the template {{Now Commons}} to its page. The difference in names and the fact that there is already a file on Commons means that transferring the local file to Commons will create a c:COM:Duplicate file; so, one of the two will end up needing to be deleted; so, it's easier just to let the non-free be deleted per F5. -- Marchjuly (talk) 13:58, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    CREATE A NEW PAGE

I'm asking you this because you already blocked two my account and Iwon't that this will Happen again so please help me to publish this article. Appeal your block in the proper manner. You will not get assistance here while using another account for block evasion. AndyTheGrump (talk) 13:28, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    And Wikipedia has no interest at all in whether anybody thinks that they "absolutely need a Wikipedia Page". In fact, nobody in the world - not even Jimmy Wales "has" a Wikipedia page. What we have instead is articles about notable subjects. An article does not belong to its subject, is not controlled by its subject, and is not for the benefit of its subject except incidentally. So anybody's "need" of a Wikipedia article is illusory. ColinFine (talk) 13:39, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    @Thomaspasc I suggest you review Wikipedia:Blocking policy, especially the section on WP:BLOCKEVASION and then review Wikipedia:Appealing a block to learn how to appeal a block. Then I suggest you choose one account, and ask to be unblocked. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 13:50, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Acknowledgment of edition contributor

    I see that my edition to the section "research" of the article on TPR Storytelling has been integrated in said article. I did this edition on July 20, 2022 but don't think I created a Wikipedia account then. I just created one. I would like to be able to include this contribution in my C.V. Any suggestions? Thanks! This is difficult, because if it was done from an IP address, it wouldn't be possible to change the edit history to say that user x did it. The edit on 20 July is here.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 17:00, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    @Aznalcollar: The only change we could make is to hide the IP address. The edit cannot be reassigned to an account. You can write on User:Aznalcollar that you made the edit but you cannot provide evidence unless you still have the same IP address and write it when you are logged out. An IP address is attached to an Internet connection, not a device, but many IP addresses change frequently. You can see your current IP address and its edits at Special:MyContributions when you are logged out. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:47, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    How do I remove the draft status of an article that has been reviewed?

    This article has been reviewed and classified as B-Class, but the draft status hasn't been removed. How do I fix this? DavidDijkgraaf (talk) 22:17, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    @DavidDijkgraaf: There is no indication that the article has been through the review process. If it had it would have been moved to mainspace or a decline notice would be displayed. As far as I can tell it is still in the review system. This can take up to 4 months per the information in the review notice. Please be patient. The B-class assessment may be an anomaly by an editor who has 'jumped the gun'. Eagleash (talk) 22:29, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    I now see there is discussion at the talk page. Please do not ask for help in multiple locations as this may lead to conflicting information and take up the time of other volunteers. Eagleash (talk) 22:33, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    In the circumstances, I have completed the review process. Eagleash (talk) 22:35, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Getting columns to render properly next to an infobox

    I'm trying to get the columns on my userpage under the "Recommended Reading" heading to render so that all three headings are next to each other, with the last column directly next to the infobox. The current version is as close as I've gotten, and you can see a couple failed attempts in the page history, but if you look you'll see that its forcing the headings down so that they all render underneath the infobox instead of next to it. BCE, CE/BC, AD

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habiru has both BC and BCE, sometimes in the same sentence; in one of them BCE was changed to to BC recently. From a quick look at Teahouse archives I get the impression that the policy is to to use BCE rather than BC in articles like this. Is there a general policy about the use of BCE and CE rather than BC and AD? Presumably use should be consistent in all articles. I've read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Dates_and_numbers#Era_style but it doesn't really answer my question apart from the consistency point.
